Welcome Baldwyn - what sort of things are you into making?

Workbench for holding machines- Drill, sander and grinder

A picture would help. Are they the pre-drilled 'dexxion' type of legs that are like giant meccano with loads of holes or something welded together? Some diagonal braces along the front and sides / wooden triangles bolted on the front and sides would help stabilise it. A low shelf (unless the...

You can see these two down the pub: I hurt my leg in 'Nam ...Chippenham - dropped a crate of artichokes on it.

I've just emailed and asked if it's the limited edition version! Anyone else going to 'write in' and ask a question??

    Kids

Talk to the parents beforehand. Say that you spread your tools out when you work - show them some sharp chisels and saws as examples of what you are using (a lot of people don't know what chisels are) and explain that you can't have children coming into where you work. If they fall and land on...

Canal boat people. Please help me out.

I don't know anything about boats. I'm guessing you have a lot of tools and you will need to pay to have them all stored away somewhere which will add to the basic costs.

Planing to make my own table saw out of a circular one... what would make a good circular saw to use?

Track saws can do a huge amount. This Peter Millard video has some additional jigs you can build to extend the usefulness as well

The Warrington Chest. Patternmakers Tool Chest and Tools 1888.

That chest is amazing. You must have had an interesting time compiling all the facts. What was the hardest part of the research to complete?

Another couple of wee bargains from my local 2nd hand store.

I worked at a sports centre. Was dispatched to buy blanks for the starting pistol. (Pre-Dunblane and all the gun restrictions by a couple of years) Boss gave me his bank card and the starters gun to make sure I got the right stuff from a gun shop. Cycled to the bank first. Cashpoint bust so I...

    Safety Sunday..

A very talented guy who has managed years without an accident. But I don't understand the culture of 'I've never had an accident'. You read and get taught about complacency with machines. I wonder if some of these guys have kids. Sleep deprivation when you have babies and toddlers is intense...

    Paint stripping

I buy citric acid powder from ebay. Soak old tools in it to remove rust, grime, oil even seems to get old glue off. If the paint is in poor condition (and you have some other rusty tools to chuck in at the same time) it might be a low cost, low risk place to start from.

    scaffold board rubbish

There are gallery pictures with chisels being used and chisels laid on the wood. Everything looks butt jointed and nailed - interesting choice of tool. Before lockdown. I noticed lots of restaurants going for an 'industrial' look. Oversized lamps with huge glowing filaments. I wonder if this is...

    Gutter cleaning pole

I think we all want to see a picture of this strange setup! How much space do you have to manouevre once you're in the loft? There are paint roller extension poles that do go to 6m - but I'm not sure of the weight. There are cleaning and maintenance poles - similar but I would hope lighter...
