    WHAT A FIND

Is any of it quilted (xylay)? I can't really tell from the pictures. Quilted afzelia looks just incredible.

Here's a little game to play

    Interesting - worth remembering.

    Help design my dining table.

I've just remembered something about that second design from Andy's post (it won't show up as a quote) and it has an inherant weakness - as I learned when I was asked to go back and do a repair F.O.C. for a couple who had bought a table shaped like that from a reclamation place I was involved...

Shame, it would have given me a chance to learn what "oak smoked" marshmallows tasted like... Well done spotting the taper for H & J, Manglitter - I was scratching my head again - and I think the tapered version would add just that touch of elegance that it was indeed made by a superb craftsman...

I was going to say the same thing - the 6 leg is a wall server not a mid room sitter - the rails would be far too annoying, and the mid back leg is a givaway.

Next time you go in there Custard, you could suggest they put casters on them? That could be an interesting solution.

Oh, well with those chairs I'd say G - the mid arch might not be to other peoples tastes but will blend the table to the house and show the table was done with the house as a whole in mind - nice synergy (ooooh get him!)

Well to be fair to Rob, I only saw the top row to start with and thought the same for a good full minute at least and uttered "is this a trick question?" Based on the other designs you have in your house I'd go for D - if you build E with turned legs I'm coming round and setting fire to it...

    Router plunge springs replacement

I have to echo Eriks sentiment - I bought a secondhand 1/2" router to use for a router table and thought I'd bought a duff one and was going to return it, when I thought I'd better just try some penetrating lube spray - after giving it a few minutes to work and applying pressure with clamps they...

Lidl Plunge Saw - Extra Track

Just another update - Despite paying early morning friday I have only just received word of despatch from the factory today, wednedsay - 3 (or 4 if you count saturdays) working days later. And presumably another week to get to me. So DO keep that in mind. I've also asked them why the cost has...

Bending Pallet Wood the "wrong way"

I'm not sure it's doable in ANY type of wood, even ones that normall steam really well, because you're asking the fibres at the top to stretch, and wood isn't known for it's ability to stretch :) You could cut kerfs in the wood so it then bends as you want, but unless you are a master at it...

Secret Santa 2018 Pictures here, please (page nine start).

I'm pretty sure I know who made both of those marking gauges - the wooden pair and the brass - bit of a givaway really :) Interested to note you say the brass weight helps it mark - it looks quiote long and I'd have thought it was a tad back heavy, but maybe that's just the optical effect?

    Does this "scoop" exist...?

Just noticed this thread - I've done this several times over large areas using a NYLON bristled cup brush - the nylon is hard enough to take out the soft grain but soft enough that it gets worn away in use, and doesn't tear at the harder grain like a wire version does...

Lidl Plunge Saw - Extra Track

Ahh I wasn't referring to the foam but the leading edge rubber strip - had I used it as was, I'd have mangled it on the very first use. I'm quite surprised at how thin the blade kerf is - as supplied just 1.5mm.

    Axminster TS250-2 modifications.

You're better off makign your own and following the technique of putting the slightly narrower runners in the slots (with washer underneath so they are proud of the machined top) and put playing cards in the INSIDE EDGE (closest to the blade) of both of them so the runners outside edge is...

Lidl Plunge Saw - Extra Track

Well my experience of Kompernass is somewhat different I emailed them as per Lidl support suggestion - and didn't get a reply for two days. Then I was told the price including shipping was £19.01 Just a tad different than 18 months ago - no joining bar available either despite my asking...

Most used thing you have ever made.

also my bed - and that knife block still makes me laugh out loud when I think of it - I still think you should have put the cleaver in it's head. I didn't have to search for it to remember that - it's indelibly seared into my memory - for those that missed it...

    Forged and Filed

I've just sent him a message: I've just seen this on Vimeo as linked by one of our woodwork forum members https://vimeo.com/288711470 - Coffer. Now I could tell you that from 4.20 onwards, I was literally frame by frame as each step of the unlocking process took place with more and more...

Dewaxed blond shellac - good cheap source.

I don't normally promote Ebay sellers etc but this one seems too good not to pass along. It's a gent that buys dewaxed blond or garnet shellac in large quantities then passes on the excess at HALF the cost of pretty much everyone else, but crucially ONLY when he has some - it's not a business...
