how much energy does a 3Kw oven use?

This is a bit like asking how much petrol does a car use. Depends on the car, how its maintained, how its driven, how long the journeys are, where its driven etc.

    Crumbling cement floor in workshop

My slab has a 50mm thick concrete screed, which is about as thin as you can go with concrete with 20mm aggregate. If I had used sand and cement for the screed I could have halved that.

    eBay - Paying via PayPal

Here in the UK section 75 makes the credit card company as legally liable as the supplier etc. It is not a matter of that credit card companies choice.

    Work shed base

I assume you do not want to mark the the patio. I would lay out dense concrete blocks so that they match the supporting timbers on the underside of the shed. Get some DPM or the heaviest duty polythene from some packaging you can find and cut it so it is a bit bigger than the blocks laid on...

Building a workshop in an old stone built barn

The OSB will not span 1200 between the 2x2 and so will load the PIR sheet. The PIR sheet will only be supported locally at the joists and so will crush over time.

Many chemicals dissolve polystyrene. Polystyrene is not good in a fire.

    long bench clamps....

@D W I watched this video a few days ago. Lower clamping pressure gives stronger joints.

    long bench clamps....

Looking at this website https://www.bessey.de/en-GB/BESSEY-Tool/Products/Clamping-Tools/Body-clamps-and-area-pressure-clamps/K-Body-REVO-KRE They weigh 3.45kg for two 1000m long or 1.725 each if I am reading it correctly. (which would make sence my cheap Chinese 1000 long clamps being 1.9kg)...

    long bench clamps....

The U channel clamps weigh 2.5kg plus the brackets for 1500 long. Once you go over 1000 long the prices get a bit steep which is why I decided to improvise for something I currently only have one use for. I have a pair of 1000 long parallel clamps and they weigh 1.9kg, so they are about the...

Could it be something to do with the two factor authentication that came in a few months ago.

    long bench clamps....

@Ttrees You have to add in the cost of the threaded rod which seems to be around £24 delivered for 1600 long. That gives a price of £34 for my size but it does have a threaded clamp as opposed to folding wedges for my £25 clamps. A 1600 and 1400 pipe plus coupler costs about £47 plus the £9/10...

    long bench clamps....

I was referring to the video in the op! as well. I would not be impressed it is not a very original idea. It is a bit like this idea but does not clamp in the y axis. I do not have a drill press so buying a channel cuts out that work. If I bought some coach bolts and another channel I would...

You can buy the stuff in the op in the UK. May have difficulty buying from a real place rather than online.

    long bench clamps....

I bought some Tamlex 41x21x2.5 slotted channel strut (similar to Unistrut) plus some brackets from CEF. I can only use folding wedges to clamp but have a pair of clamps that camp to about 1350 for £25.03 each. And no metal work involved apart from cutting the strut in half and filing off the...

    Outhouse Project

Bricklayers often cut bricks just with a special hammer with a chisel one side. mostly the brick survives. If you score through the outside, which is the hardest part for clay bricks, they should mostly be good. If you are covering them up with the door frame they do not have to be perfect. Any...

    Outhouse Project

I have not read the thread so I am just butting in but why do you need to hire a special machine to cut angled bricks. Why not buy or borrow a 4 inch angle grinder. Score a line where you want the cut then wack it with a hammer.

    Crumbling cement floor in workshop

The crack is probably from contraction of the slab shortly after it was poured. Concrete tends to contract as it cures. The slab will be moving slightly with temperature so the crack may open up again. But it will not be a big crack judging by how it has not cracked the paint to the left of the...

    Stupid injuries

The number of deaths and serious injuries have halved since I started in construction in the 80s. Whilst many accident are caused by stupidity they are also caused by a lack of appreciation of the risks.
