Party wall agreement with crazy neighbour and surveyor

Harassing someone because they do not want to engage with you generally does not end up well. They could then argue that the works are only being undertaken as a form of harassment and for no other reason. A PCSO is not a solicitor. They cannot give legal advice, they have little legal...

Party wall agreement with crazy neighbour and surveyor

If you do not serve notice correctly, as other people have stated, you could end up with big problems. You will not have permission or a court order to enter their property. It is not an emergency, you have been talking about it for weeks. You enter another persons property carrying tools, or...

What ideas have you had for reducing Electricity consumption

Time your activities to benefit from waste heat. Vacuum clean when you come home not before you go out. Use the oven slightly latter in the day when you would turn the heating on.

I do the same. I don't add cold water just use the brush to carefully lift things out of the water. Put the cuttlery in first, near boiling water water on top hooking them out again as quickly as possible before they heat up. Then wash one thing at a time. When the water starts to get a bit...

    Rant about screwfix

There are some non EU countries in Europe that use the Euro for large purchases like houses cars etc and the countries own currency for smaller stuff. I could see us doing the opposite if we get rid of physical money. Some people will want to use the the Euro cash instead. But then a Euro bank...

    Rant about screwfix

I pay for nearly everything with card. The only thing I want to pay cash is in pubs, it is just to easy to be ripped off. When contact less first came out I used it a couple of times in various pubs and asked for the receipt. There were quite a few times where they "accidentally" rang up an...

When we were kids we would dig up slate and use it for writing on the pavement. Only one colour but free.

I had the same experience. Spent about £3 on something and they asked for my post code. I asked why and they could not tell me why so I just made one up. I had the receipt but it was for something I was unlikely to want to return.

    Rant about screwfix

I have three email addresses. One for spam. one for every day and one for important stuff that I give to hardly anyone.

Then they will loose. What local stores have the advantage in is being able to pick it up now and people who may give advice. If the staff are just there to sweep up spills and they can get it tomorrow whats the point. You can get small stuff delivered to the newsagent across the road from...

Why not make some studding out of the lightest timber you can get away with and face it with something thin like 6mm ply. Enclose the office, Curtain for door. Maybe a perspex window so you do not feel like you are in a timber tent. Will not keep all the heat in but greatly reduce the power...

Has Toolstation got a production error on medium set back latches?

That's a bit of a pain when you want to fit a replacement. 57mm is about 2.25 inches so I suppose they have replaced it with a metric equivalent of 60mm. No problem if new but you will have to move the handle if latch can not be 3mm proud of the door. Moving the handle will leave a mark on the...

    DIY wind turbine....

@D_W We do not have zoning in the UK. Local government make a development plan but it is not set in stone (somebody can correct me if I am wrong). Every development is decided on its own merits, which does mean that you can not be sure what will be accepted but anything reasonable could in...

    Rant about screwfix

As someone posted before with no catalogues you can up the prices instantly. With inflation heading to 20% that would be able to track other merchants prices upwards. It could also mean they could charge differently in different places and maybe move prices up and down!. Dry day in spring...

Retro fitting solar panels on small roofs is bound to be expensive. No economies of scale in the installation and less chance to fine tune the components. It should get slightly better for residential when solar is fitted as buildings are built.

I don't know. But if you can use wax crayons! there are always plenty on the floor in Wetherspoons late afternoon at the weekends and school holidays.

    Rant about screwfix

I was in Screwfix on Friday and noticed the tablets. I always decide what I want before I go but have sometimes looked in the book if I have thought of something else. I normally compare the prices at Screwfix with other places on a scrap pf paper then write down the number on the little bits...

    DIY wind turbine....

Hydrogen can be added to natural gas, and if it is a low proportion existing cookers and boilers (furnaces) can be used without modification. I think it is quite a bit less than 20%, If I recall correctly less than 10%. They are selling boilers now that can use a higher portion of hydrogen...
