    Mortgage rates / interest etc

As you state "it’s perfectly normal practice to actually conduct transaction in a different country whilst selling in another". This transaction is subject to some UK laws. But I was referring to "If a company is doing business in the UK that that transaction is taking place in the UK". If...

It will also be subject to UK law. If you are doing something that is contrary to a UK law you may be fined or imprisoned.

How you remove paint from ceiling in shower?

I am no expert in paint but if the new paint is staying on the ceiling why remove it. Remove the loose stuff and ridge. Treat the blotches with some sort of stain stopping paint, I think many are shellac based, making sure it can be overcoated with the "new paint". Give it a coat with the new...

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

The UK Government legislates for things outside its territory, as does the US and others.

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

Money is being transferred out of the UK. Many countries have laws on the transfer of money. The UK could enact a law to tax money before its transferred. There are pros and cons in such a law but that does not stop it being possible.

How you remove paint from ceiling in shower?

Why not put on a dust mask and give it a light sand.

That is debatable. The argument is that the £12 restaurant would close and open as something else. My argument that all the resturants should be subject to the same rules.

    Trend Unibase screws?

Would something like this work. I think this is the smallest that they do but there are other suppliers, you could get a few different sizes. The post will be the most expensive thing...

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

People who think that taxes can not be applied to either party in a transaction should read the thread Sauter Shop and import taxes.

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

This is a false analogy. The new restaurant charging £11 is not competing against the restaurant charging £25. The restaurants are after different sectors of the market. The £11 restaurant is competing against the £12 restaurant.

As I have stated on a number of occasion the UK has the ability to make law. Some will be bad law, some good, but that is a different thing. John posts "I only have a small workshop with a benchsaw. I can not feed sheet goods through the saw and and am thinking of getting a track saw. Thoughts...

I would not recommend trying this as you are not supposed to deface the currency but From Bank of England "In a very small number of cases, we may be able to reimburse you if you have less than half of the banknote but there is clear auditable evidence that genuine banknotes have been damaged...

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

You stated "you do not tax expenses". I noted expenses are taxed in the UK by things like VAT. I assume that you accept that taxes are paid on expences so it is quite possibe to introduce more taxes on expences. I tax like VAT is not VAT, it would have its own rules on how it taxes expences...

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

As I noted expenses are taxed in the UK by things like VAT. VAT is a fundamental part of the UK tax system. As you note "for example brand value can easily be demonstrated to be worth a very high % of turnover". There is no logical reason why you can not tax that value that is demonstrated in...

The UK has and can enact laws that govern the actions actions taken by individuals and companies overseas. As you note "If you are owned by an American company there is a lot of legal obligations on the company to ensure it’s subsidiaries around the world also are compliant in certain aspects...

Company A, which is in the UK would be taxed by the UK. If Company A is paying a licence for the brand to Company B based in Ireland then Company A would have to pay tax at 10% of £10m or £1m. The location of Company B is irrelevant because it is not taxed. Company A is in the UK.. The money...

You keep saying it is relatively easy to move profits but when I state that new laws and taxes could be introduced you ignore it and just state again that it is relatively easy to move profits with no justification of the statement. "License to be paid for the use of the company brand." Tax...

Yes "Multi-nationals can locate wherever suits them in terms of tax, regulation, labour cost etc". You could headquarters Terry Wood Working Tools in the Caymans but if you wanted to sell your tools in the UK you would have to do it mail order and pay duties or set up a store in the UK. Terry...
