    Heavy Machinery (Lathe) Substrate?

Back in the latter half of the sixties, having completed my apprenticeship as a Maintenance Fitter in heavy engineering, when a new machine like a lathe or mill had to be installed, we used a type of flexible anti-vibration material cut into pieces to match the feet of the machine. These were...

Health Secretary:"People who are abusing NHS staff can be turned away, and should be turned away, if that is the way that they are treating our staff"

How about a COMPLETE ban on politics on this forum? It's WOODWORKING for crying out load! Mr Angry of Herefordshire, (AKA Stuart Little)

    Any Snap-on experts on here

It is in a red plastic case, but, so far the catches are still good, although it hasn't had much use, I kept it originally in the rear locker of my motorhome just for emergency. Now it just lurks in the workshop just in case. (no motorhome now)

    Grabber/Litter Picker

Got two of them, one is kept near my shipyard desk, for recovering tools & parts which will suddenly jump off onto floor. Mostly caused by CTS. (Carpal Tunnel)!:(

    Any Snap-on experts on here

Don't forget Kamasa, Hilka, Britool, Gedore, Elora, etc. I bought a Gedore 1/2" socket set in 1963, when I had my first car ('35 Austin 10), I still had it when I retired in 2009. The ratchet had been replaced twice, & the 'speed' wrench once, when the grip fell apart. 45 years of that time was...

    Any Snap-on experts on here

That's news to me, I have & like Bahco tools, especially their wood chisels 9made in Spain) & hacksaw blades (made in Sweden). The odd Snap on spanners I have, were all recovered from under bonnets (hoods), left by previous mechanics!

    Medieval crossbow replica

Many moons ago, about 40 I would guess, I built a crossbow from a purchased kit, the bow is of aluminium alloy, very 'sprungy'. I've still got it up in me loft, too frightened to use it nowadays, & lacking the strength to **** it! The bolts would penetrate car panels, with a range of well over...

    Any Snap-on experts on here

I had a 10mm hex bit, the type used on cyl. head bolts, it 'snapped' (I guess that's where the name came from). I bought a Sealey set as a replacement to finish the job. That set lasted for years after. Instead of the foc replacement from Snap-on, I accepted some pliers. VERY overpriced, IMHO.

    Winter fuel Payments.

One good thing, so far, is the scrapping of a tunnel under Stonehenge. The Arundel bypass is scrapped & the money saved to be spent on filling potholes - a likely story? or what? I guess time will tell.

All the same, in my opinion, one step up from commies! ;)
