Work so hard you cripple yourself

I will provide one single real world observation of why I think you are wrong. The examples are legion, but one ought to do it as an evidenced example. In 2010, public satisfaction in the NHS was at an all time high. In 2024, public satisfaction in the NHS was at an all time low. Come to...

    Current shed project

Fitting the side window into the frame was a tricky, multi-step affair. Different steps than the front frame - because the front was easy to access both inside and out with just a few paces. I didn't fancy a 20 metre trek every time going from inside to outside for the side window, so did it...

Window number two taking shape. Spacing out and then driving the veneer pins in was a bit of a repetitive monotonous task. Three pins per rail and three rails per pane. Not a massive number, but laborious nonetheless. Much more fun was milling the rails on the table saw... After the...

Has anyone used this crystal clear shellac.

I've just done a google and found this page on another store with a bit more info, You can also zoom in on the product picture and read the label. It says to clean brushes and tools with methylated spirit. Contains methylated spirit and aldehyde...

Work so hard you cripple yourself

I'm not a young buck any more, even if I'm not approaching retirement age, yet... Bottom line - No. No it isn't black and white, and that "interpretation" is incorrect. You were quite correct to challenge that, and it turns out, I strongly believe, that you're still correct. The legislation...

Work so hard you cripple yourself

That sounds more like a crooked and obtuse misinterpretation of the guidelines, (perhaps deliberately??) rather than the fault of the guidelines themselves. As Blackswanwood skilfully explains, this has very little to do with "age discrimination" and far more to do with being "enabling"...

What finish for outdoor maple table?

Excellent resources - thanks for that - sorry I missed it previously, dunno why I didn't see a notification? We have a decent quality teak "main table" and chairs on our deck, under a parasol, now well over 15 years old and going strong. I normally strip and re-coat every year or two with...

Progress check. It's getting there... Both windows got a couple of coats of protection today - with Decking Protector. One window fully complete, with an added "locking pin" so that the window stay can be locked both in the closed and the open positions. More planned for tomorrow :)

    Losing a pet

Tilly was a good looking pooch. Never heard of that breed before. We've lost a couple of dogs that way too. One to a splenic tumor and one to pancreatic. They were both staffis. The worst thing about staffis is that they have a really really high pain threshold and they normally don't let you...

We do. Our claims and investigation system substantiates the claimant's claims. The vast majority (high 80s%) are genuine and are accepted as Refugees. Sadly, the previous Govt deliberately disinvested the system and deliberately cost the taxpayer a lot of £ due to a build up of a massive...

LOL, it's probably another mistaken case of Schrödinger's Migrant. You know the one - they arrive here to simultaneously steal Brit jobs while also claiming all the benefits (which they can't anyway).

Oh dear, you've probably been pointed towards material like this before, let's have some fun with it and do it again... https://freemovement.org.uk/are-refugees-obliged-to-claim-asylum-in-the-first-safe-country-they-reach/ "Over and over again we hear that refugees should claim asylum in the...

Ah yes, the "men of fighting age" fallacy. Meanwhile, a baby has recently drowned in the Channel. The "men of working age" are the ones who are fit, able, and with the courage to face the challenge of an evidentially dangerous and life threatening Channel crossing in a small boat. "men of...

Easy peasy. C'mon, think a bit. It has NOTHING AT ALL to do with Europe. You do know that the Brits had a deep and wide history of colonialism, with "connections" at one point in time or another to around 90% of the globe? Right? You do know that English is a language that transcends...

    Ukiyo Blossom Gin

See pic a couple posts above. The Rhubarb and Ginger is right in that shot and what's in my glass. It's one of my absolute go-to favourites. I'm an absolute sucker for ginger. Ginger nuts (cheap supermarket own brand normally best). Fox's ginger crunch creams. Rhubarb and Ginger Preserve/Jam -...

I guess they're not for everyone with their dull dnk or thd. (deliberate spelling for onomatopiea effect pmsl) Personally the upsides outweigh that - no messing with water, trays, (or bags), and they don't alter the taste of the drink from top to bottom.

Saxton blade 255mm 80T - cuts the perspex well All four panes in place. Happy with the clearances 👌

On to the glazing. Using 4mm thick acrylic perspex. First measure up the cavities, all nice and consistent with max 1mm deviation between the four panes. Initially cut a scabby old piece of thin ply to check fitment and clearances. Once checked - on to cutting the perspex on the sliding mitre
