    Stack cutting limit in hardwood?

    You're probably applying side pressure when cutting, this generally happens when the blade starts to dull, so you will need to change the blade more often, don't ask me how I know this, sideways pressure will give you a cut just the same as a tilted table

    Wolf from Gills pattern

    Wolf cut from a pattern by Gill, thanks Gill, it's cut using a No.1 FDSR blade from a piece of 1/4 inch mahogany salvaged from an old wardrobe. The size is 10" by 8" and finished with Chestnut hard wax oil thinned down a little and backed with black paper.

    Hobbies

    I've just had some blades from Mike and they took 12 days to arrive. As for storing blades I drilled 3/4" holes 4" deep in a block of wood, one for each size of blade.

    The ones I make for the wife are 4" to 4 1/2" long and 1/4" in dia. with the neck at the top (where the thread is wound) 1" long and 1/8th in dia.
