    Amy's horse

Not really Martin, I need the exercise, I've got muscles aching in my legs that I didn't know I've got, :D :D also I can top feed the blade on the A1 and find that I have better control on the treadle when cutting less than 1/4". happy scrolling Steve

    Amy's horse

Here's my cutting of Amy's horse from a pattern designed by Birchbark over at the Scrollsaw village. It's 10" x 8" 1/8th ply, with white card behind just for the photo, finished with Danish oil. Cut on my Hobbies A1 treadle fretsaw using Olson 2/0 crown tooth blades in just under 3 hrs. As usual...

    Scroll saw foot switch

Yorkie, if the saw has a NVR switch it will have to be bypassed and then the foot switch can simply be used between the socket and the machine. happy scrolling Steve

Cheap, second-hand, green, French (maybe?) pillar drill.

It looks a lot like one I bought from Netto a few years back for less than £40 I think.

    Another new toy.

I hope you don't mind me joining this thread with my new toy, it's the one that Martin gave me (thank you Martin) and the progress made so far, I've just made up the blade clamps and took the tighteners from a hand saw to complete them. Clicking on the photo will give you more pics. Still have...

    Newish member

I haven't found a place that I can go to and find birch ply in N. Notts. so for the time being I order my ply from Hobbies. http://www.alwayshobbies.com/materials/wood Or you could try kitchen or furniture makers near you and ask for offcuts. happy scrolling Steve

    Question about whitewashing wood

I tell customers, it's a Danish oil finish or no finish if they don't want it oiled and to decorate themselves, it saves a lot of hassle getting the finish right. happy scrolling Steve

    My Hobbies A1

No stays on mine so I screwed the legs to a piece of ply so as to stop the saw walking away from me and slackening the belt off because the back leg would stay still. happy scrolling Steve

Home made scroll saw bench slope or not to slope?

My saw is on a slope and I find it easier to see the pattern and I don't seem to ache as much as when cutting on the flat. you could give it a try by putting a piece of wood under the back of the saw to see if it suits you. Mine has ended up being raised 2" which I find comfortable. happy...
