    cutting

Try increasing the blade tension. Are you sure that you are not putting sideways pressure to the wood when cutting, this is the most common cause of puzzles only coming apart one way.

    Smoothing edges and sanding faces

Hi Spence, not sure what type of spray glue you're using but try using a repositional spray glue on the back of the pattern then attach to the wood, no need for masking or blue painters tape it comes off easily and if any residue is left it'll be very little and will come off with a quick sand...

    Vintage Hobbies treadle scroll saws.

I personally would make one good one then if possible you could try to repair the broken pieces mended. Reading Wallace's and other folks restoration threads it is possible to weld cast. Whatever you decide good luck with it.

    Never lend tools!!

Learned that lesson a long time ago. I had a signed copy of Keith Rowleys book, Woodturning, a foundation course that I lent out and never got back, so I now no longer lend either books or tools.

    Framing your cuts

I use black card to back mine and up to yet not had a problem fitting into bought frames. As for making your own frames join the corners with glue and V nails, kits are pretty cheap. https://www.charnwood.net/products/prod ... athway-390

    Framing your cuts

Why don't you resize the patterns to a standard size? I make most of my patterns 10" x 8" (250 x 200mm) with a graphics programme like Inkscape (it's free). I do this because if I frame the pattern chances are whoever buys it can if they wish at a later date easily change the frame to one that...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Inspired by Ron Aylor and reading Peter Follansbee's book, Joiners Work, here's a box that I've just finished. It's all Oak and glue, no nails or screws just Oak dowels. It measures approx. 17" long by 10" wide and 5" high by 5/8ths thick. Finished with a coat of Danish Oil and then buffed up...
