    About to take the plunge.

I bought a secondhand Charnwood W730 a couple of years ago and it's been brilliant. I changed the bearings and fitted Tuffsaws blade and it's cut everything from 1/8" ply to 9" Oak and never missed a beat.

    Band Saw Buying Guide

Coming back to band saws, there are couple of really good options (at least on paper) on gumtree, but they are big sizes (14") for around £350-£400 and quite far away from where I live. I enquired with a couple of "man and van" options and the cost of transporting them is £150 or more - which...

    Cutting problems

Are you sure the blade is square to the table? If it is then you could be unintentionally putting side pressure onto the blade, take your time and let the blade do the work. Also if you cover the pattern with clear packing tape it will stop the burning in the cut. Try thinner wood if you can...

    Quick change blade clamps

I always thought the rotating disc was to stop the blade twisting when being tightened up, the blade rotation is taken care of by the clamps pivot point.

    Vintage Hobbies treadle scroll saws.

Just look for leather sewing machine belts, I bought a pack of two off ebay. I have two A1's, one that's painted green and one that's black, no idea what the original colour was and to me it doesn't matter that much.

Inset brush seal for bifold door - can anyone identify?

I would think that the brush in the screw on ones would pull out and push into place of the damaged one. The hardest part I would have thought is getting one with the correct brush depth.

    Christmas craft fair ideas?

It's to do with the release agent on the back of the tape acting as a lubricant, so I'm told.

    Christmas craft fair ideas?

Chris, to help prevent the burning like on the Beech one, wrap the whole thing in clear packing tape after you've stuck the pattern on.

    Aluminium sash cramps.

Mike, let Google be your friend, put clamp heads in the search bar, loads will come up, everywhere from ebay to Yandles. :)

    Aluminium sash cramps.

Like Andy I use clamp heads on 2 x 1 wood, I think mine are Record but other makes are available. You then can make up any length required.

    Benchtop thicknessers

    I would recommend the Makita.

    Bench top planer recommendations?

I can and have fed pieces of wood as short as 6" long through my Makita thicknesser and never had one spit out. The shortest length of wood is determined by the distance apart of the feed rollers, on the Makita they are 5" apart.
