    Thicknesser

I have the Makita thicknesser and when running without planing wood it's no louder than an electric lawnmower. I use mine outside and just sweep up the shavings into the garden recycling bin. The Makita has a self locking head.

    Getting a Will witnessed

When we did our will we all had to sign with the same pen, something I couldn't understand why and still don't why.

    Friendship vs Greed

What really drove it home for me about selfish buying was last Friday I went shopping to Tesco to buy dairy and soya free food for grandson (who's dairy, soya intolerant) was that because everything else had been bought they went on to take all the free from food as well. Normally the free from...

    Bandsaw advice request

I have a 730 which I bought second hand, I did change the guide bearings as they were a little noisy. Now I don't know if it had any or how much fettling the previous owner did to it but in 4 years it has never let me down. With a Tuffsaws blade it'll rip 9" Oak no problem. Based on how this one...

Choosing a scroll-saw. Why pay more? the answer is here.

I prefer the two speed over the variable one but that's just me. Anywhere around the £100 mark is good, lower is better. I can't see the point in running the saw to use a flexible drive, just buy a Dremmel type machine. Just because a machine looks older doesn't mean it's not a good buy. Another...

Choosing a scroll-saw. Why pay more? the answer is here.

The Delta every time over the Axi. If the quickset clamps (the best clamping system ever) are complete and it works then it'll be a great saw. I have two 560's one I bought new in the mid 1990's and it's still going, I also have another 560 and a 540 as well. The 540 is variable speed, the 560...

Help delta 16 scroll saw problem bad misalignment first time

The picture shows the Deltas table clamp which by its design may not be accurate when assembled, it needs to be zeroed once the table has been set square to the blade using a square or credit card, the arrow has adjustment for this purpose.

Looking at the photo with he credit card the table needs adjusting to lower the right hand side, see the pic I put up of the manual on how to do it. As for the blade cutting off straight, they all do that to a certain degree, some cut to left more than others, it's to do with how they're made...

Source of pinned blades or a decent adaptor?

Google for pinless adaptors, you should find one that suits your saw. I just have and Axminster have some, https://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-b ... saw-400124. Which ever you choose you will have to take the blade out and thread it through the hole, which for me is usually only 1 or 2mm in dia.

You put the blade on and tension it then set the table with a square (or credit card if you haven't a small square), to the blade, that's the only way to know the table is 90° to the blade.

Help delta 16 scroll saw problem bad misalignment first time

They're bloody brilliant mate, by far the easiest and quickest blade change system ever made IMHO, the first one I bought new in 1994 or 5 from a woodworking show that used to held near Leamington Spa, I think that Delta stopped selling over here not long after this, the others, one bought off...

Help delta 16 scroll saw problem bad misalignment first time

AES, I have three, two 40-560 type 2's and one 40-540. The 560's are 2 speed and the 540 is variable speed apart from that they are identical.
