    Finger sanding belts breaking

Hi AES, my jig is just a piece of wood turned round and a 12mm shoulder turned on it then a Stanley knife blade fixed to the end and the belt just pulled round to cut the strips off. My belt sander takes 75mm x 457mm belts so I can cut 6 power file belts out of one belt, nothing else to do them.

    Finger sanding belts breaking

I have one of these and started cutting up belt sander belts which happen to be the right length, (457mm IIRC) into ½ strips with the aid of a little jig. Never had one break yet.

    Face masks

For a while now the government have been saying face coverings, bandannas, scarves etc. not necessarily masks and as someone once said, “The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and...

Where to find baltic birch plywood?

Some model shops or suppliers sell Birch ply. Try Hobbies or SLEC, I've used both but SLEC has a bigger choice. There maybe others but I've only used these two. https://www.hobbies.co.uk/materials/wood https://www.slecuk.com

I would think any foot switch would work but you would have to either bypass or insert it after the NVR switch.

Brass screws and threaded inserts - recommendations?

I'm not sure if you're looking for inserts or screws but if you search ebay for brass inserts for wood or brass machine screws you should find something that suits.

    baltic birch plywood

I've never had a problem with ply from Hobbies or SLEC, though I did by my last lot from SLEC but only because it was cheaper. https://www.slecuk.com

    Scroll blades

Depends on how much metal you're going to cut. I've cut thin Brass sheet with ordinary non reverse wood blades because I had loads of them and didn't have a lot of Brass to cut. The wood blades did wear out quicker though.

Gluing pattern straight to bare wood

Try a repositionable spray glue. Sand the wood to 240, clean off the dust, spray the back of the pattern, wait a few seconds then apply to the wood. I've tried several brands (Bostik, 3M and the local craft shops own brand but currently use the one from Crafters Companion, the Purple can.

Request for help - Covid related

I've just re-read your original post, it's the holder you're after not the pre-filter, I think I might have one in the shed, if I have then you're welcome to it. Just been to look and I do have one for you if still required. That speed reading course could have been better. :D

Request for help - Covid related

I use one of those masks but never had pre-filter on it. According to the Arco website the pre-filters just extend the life of the main filter by catching large particles. As far as I can tell it's just a 4" disc of polyester filter material so maybe you could get hold of some material and make...

Delta 16 variable speed scroll saw help required

Yes the Delta takes pinless blades, 5" (130mm) long. Different teeth count for different woods and thicknesses. Axminster Tools, Hobbies and Hegner do selection packs. https://www.axminster.co.uk/pegas-wood- ... ack-502331 https://www.hobbies.co.uk/tools/power-t ... saw-blades...

Delta 16 variable speed scroll saw help required

You could get by with an Allen Key (4mm) and a bit of 5mm bar (plain end of a drill bit). It won't be as fast as the proper tool but better than changing the clamp. A copy of the manual if it helps.

    Buying my first scroll saw

The Aldi ones are rebadged Scheppach machines, not sure who makes the Lidl ones. You won't get a guide to cut a straight line by the very nature of how the blades are made they will always cut to one side, the majority are stamped out so leave a burr on them, how far of straight depends on the...

    Thicknesser

Sometimes there's snipe when taking a lot off in one go but if I hold the end of the boards up when feeding in and then when exiting I can eliminate it, also taking a very light cut seems to produce no snipe.
