Still learning. but more importantly, we've found another semi-intelligent entity, so lets see how we treat it this time around.

Shelving out an Inbuilt Wardrobe - Help a Novice

Just to clarify. He means you fill the splintering first, then paint. Paint alone just highlights splinters., so if its a finished and seen edge, it needs to be properly dressed so you can get the neatest of finishes on it.

He thinks this is a caravan…

Its a shed all right, but it's been built to caravan regulations. So while it's a shed, it looks like a shed, it does shedy things like store your lawnmower and collection of slowly rusting garden tools, it is to the letter of the law, a caravan. I suppose thats really sticking it to the man...

    Axminster Workshop AW2606B Bandsaw

I suppose its ruled by the limits of what you'd be been cutting and what you intend to cut in the future. The 12"'s are usually about 8" depth of cut, which i think is fine as a small saw for most things. As said I dont know your specif needs, but the nice 14" axminster is currently 1100 with...

Council fined £20k for saw injury - Saw Stop would have prevented this

Obviously not, but then their range is that of cabinet saws and contractor saws, not industrial or production machinery.

I asked Alexa if it was spying on us. There was an uncomfortable silence.

Council fined £20k for saw injury - Saw Stop would have prevented this

Reports back that you switch the saw stop part off if cutting green or wet timber. That is once you've checked it using the function that checks that if the timber is too wet it will set off the system Which I thought you would have known being a saw stop owner. Except they impede cutting of...

He thinks this is a caravan…

I was meaning the higher echelons of the council, not the day to day staff. Although there are plenty of exceptions, and while im quite sure many are fine and down to earth folk, it is a known fact that councils are overly officious

He thinks this is a caravan…

Because councils are staffed by little Hitlers. I think it was David Cameron who installed a shed in his garden with wheels on it. Looking at, its clearly a shed, but it had comically large wheels. Called or classed as a 'Shepherds hut' it gets around the permanent shed ruling

Council fined £20k for saw injury - Saw Stop would have prevented this

Im pretty sure kids in schools do not have access to table saws, even under close supervision. The teacher/technician can use machinery, the kids are limited to hand saws, possibly a jig saw, and a chisel, or maybe at a stretch a morticer or bandsaw. But the table saw or surfacer planer i very...

I think this bloke might need it, or one day he might see a blue glove fly across the table  A good thing about butchers bandsaws is they always have a great depth of cut. Not always a lot of throat, but you can have a saw with an 8" throat, but with a 12-15" depth, and in table top...

    Oak Block Windfall

Oh thats easily covered by the 'character' label. I was visiting the friend of a friend for some party, and this friend of friend heard i was a furniture maker and couldn't help showing off his newly installed oak mantle, which was actually just a length of a sleeper sized oak slab. He seemed...

Council fined £20k for saw injury - Saw Stop would have prevented this

Oh i agree there are a lot of daft and expensive 'gadgets' for example one for cutting dovetails involving magnets. Or some 'known' woodworker tacks his name onto the front, as if that makes you a skilled cabinetmaker. This however is a safety feature, designed to make the risk of an accident...

Why are you picking his nose, Is this a new fetish thing ? Ye gads. the things they get up to down Dorset way 😲 If its the pic from the bbc site, i really don't think thats a pic of the actual saw and rather just a stock image.

Buttons are on the left arent they(left corner abouts) And i can envision how it happened. He was pushing the workpiece through the saw, right hand between the blade and the fence yeah ? Right finger too far over and ....snip... Plus Im not sure the reporting of this is as accurate as it could...

"Fraction of the cost" well maybe not the case as training won't be cheap. And it would be more than a few minutes. Or is that all you have ? :P

Council fined £20k for saw injury - Saw Stop would have prevented this

Technician using a table saw but not trained to use said saw. Just what kind of people are they employing ??? You would think a tech in a design and tech department would know wft he was doing with every machine in there, and if he doesn't, then he shouldn't have been employed as such. He...
