    Sold Startrite PT260

In good working order, blades fitted hare sharp but used, 2 sets are recently sharpened and unused and 3rd has a few nicks. It sits on a steel cradle with retractable nylon pallet truck wheels so is easily moveable with a dolly - the dolly is not included as it's needed for the spindle I'm...

    Sold Record Power DS300

I might be able to do a deal if we went halves or similar - at 30kg bare it breaches most carriers weight limits, especially as I would need to crate it to ensure safe delivery and this pushes it into stratospheric £50+ pallet charges. If you are amenable I could detach the cast table and see if...

    Roundover on a small piece?

I'd agree with using a finely set and sharp block plane and as others have mentioned go across grain 1st. I find that this gives a cleaner finish than sanding where the tendency is to over-soften the ends as pressure on the block is only bearing on a tiny piece of the work-piece.

    Centre pivot timber window

The gap illustrated by your shot including the handle shows that side of the frame is true, as the similar gap above and below the hinge and a clear gap between the light and the frame at the pivot point are the same, yet other photos you've posted show minimal gap between the light and the...

Halogen to LED. Can anybody throw some light on my problem?

Strange problem - are you certain that the halogens you are taking out are all mains rated and not low voltage? - as Spectic mentions that voltage drop is not to be expected especially given that the new lights will consume less than 10% power ( amps ) of the original halogens.... Thing is with...

I'll go with oak as being most likely - the staining made me think it oak too. It along with a lot of what was sold as Sapele will go on the for sale forum when I've worked out how to price it.. Many thanks to all

    Wood ID Please!

As part of my workshop clearout I have started pulling stuff from my timber store. I've 2 planks of this which looks to me likely oak judging by the colour and the staining, however the planed bit whilst also looking like oak has no characteristic smell - and I've processed a lot of oak in my...

Exporting furniture to Europe, custom fees, general dubious behaviour.

I'd deffo go with with the holiday scenario - it's a one off, can't imagine anyone at customs will kick up a fuss. I suspect doing it via official routes would be a nightmare of red tape and ending up costing you big-time..

    Forstner Drill Bits

I must admit I bought a cheapo set from Screwfix - Hilka springs to mind, and whilst not the sharpest out-the-box they have served me well even in hard or tough woods such as Maple and Sapele. In my experience by adjusting the RPM and feed rate, perfectly acceptable cuts can be made with even...
