I suspect your issues may well be down to mis-alignment of the track to the blade since with care even the most basic saws should cut cleanly.
A cheap plunge saw I bought for ~£66 produced stellar results when trimming the ends of parquet flooring, and that was using a 2m level with glued...
Erbauer EMCS650 variable speed plunge saw, seen light use only fully working, laser guide, unused spare rip and masonry discs and near new and un-chipped TCT blade
Looking for £30 +P&P or local pick-up near Colchester
Evolution Rage-3 saw, seen light use only, trimming pine woodblock flooring and the odd bit of aluminium angle section.
In near new condition, original blade, no chips to the TCT.

Virtually unused, bought for a specific project in mind but in practice was not suitable.
Probably has been run less than 30mins and is fitted with a loop & hook adaptor and comes complete with 8 unused 180 grit loop discs and one original stick-on 80-grit
Looking for £200 £150 ono so £150 under...
Selling up entire workshop, so listing stuff as I go along - lots more to follow.
Plane has a few knocks and light scratches but is lovely to use.
A prior owner roughly engraved their name on one side but this doesn't affect its operation
Collect from near Colchester or can post at your cost

NP - ex-Marconi back in the day and eyesight permitting still dabble with IoT electronics!
I also used to do some TIG welding of aluminium and so know only too well how quickly it oxidises, it is for this reason you have to use AC to weld it, the cycle where the workpiece is -ve and tungsten...
If you are drilling a lot of metal then cobalt tipped drills may offer some advantages, however expect to pay a premium over standard HSS ones.
As others have mentioned for most use cases HSS are fine as long as they are sharp and you are using an appropriate drill speed and feed rate and some...
I recently sold it however I'm pretty sure my Kity 613 bandsaw had a similar switch fitted with two fuses. In all the years I had it I never had any issues with blown fuses so never investigated it further.
As @Tris mentions, an unusual arrangement however again from memory the switch is an NVR...
Agreed - it was my assumption that Wills and any LPA's are aligned in their intent, and further that the more onerous situation is where someone has in some way lost capacity and thus the LPA is implemented - IMHO any situation where someones capacity is to be questioned is fraught with...
As a long term 30y+ IT contractor working for primarily Financial institutions in the City of London I can sympathise - I had one contract in a well known Commodities Exchange where after 1.5 days into the role I realised the guy I reported to was a Luddite who would not countenance interim...
WRT cutting Celotex - deffo try hot-wire 1st, cutting the stuff with a fine saw to infill studwork was incredibly dusty work made worse by the fact it has fibre-glass reinforcing running through it which can be quite irritating to lungs and even your hands!
Looks good, for my 4x5m workshop I was concerned about lighting so opted for multiple spagnolette locking windows and double glazing with the inner glass being laminated for added security, given that timber/metal egress is a risk with some of the tools I have!
I used 80mm studding for the walls...
These days with the advances in medical science whilst death is still a risk, one also has to consider incapacity whether mental or physical as a potential outcome so I'd advise registering for Lasting Power of Attorney for both property and financial matters - two separate but similar documents...
I'd second the recommendation for Starrett carbide tipped hole saws, albeit I can't remember where I bought mine which are way deeper than those e.g. available from RS.
I was using them in a stand mounted drill - a Record DMS26 cast mortice stand and Metabo EDV1000 metal gearbox variable speed...
If I had my time again I'd have gone down that route, am sure vinyl is much kinder on dropped hand-tools!
My 4x5m workshop has a suspended floor on 12 concrete piers then house grade joists and 18mm Egger board, but then by chance I came across a guy with a warehouse full of pine shelving - he...
I'd agree with @Sachakins - ex-biker used to clock up a lot of miles and always carried a gunge kit just to get you home. in 10y of riding only had to use it once - was in rush hour traffic one winters evening on the M40 just past the M25 junction and there'd been a rear-end in front of me...
apologies forgot to post these, front and rear taken from the outfeed end so bolts/springs of interest are furthest away from camera
so maybe infeed are under more pressure than outfeed assuming all springs are equal....
As others have said there is a registration mark on the lower collar - not visible in the photo you posted and you align that with the top scale to set the slot width. In your case that minimum will be 3.5mm the kerf of the blade itself.
