    Repairing a cordless driver

Dunno about power tools but deffo most phones and other abusable bits of electrickery like tablets have in-built moisture sensors such that repairers will know upfront if moisture has ingressed at some point by way of a colour change, thus allowing an easy execution of any clause to that effect...

Cordless power washer, anyone had one?

Isn't this more an issue of how one chooses to wash your car? I have a reasonable sized one, an Audi Avant and can wash the bodywork satisfactorily with just two buckets of water, one clean and one containing shampoo. Rinsing off would be just about possible with maybe an additional bucket of...

can you put hampshire sheen on dainish oil?

++ Tung oil is my goto finish, it tends not to impart any yellow colour to wood and applied well-thinned you can build up whatever level of sheen you want. Like most oils it offers very little UV protection but because it dries by oxidation it does offer significant protection against water...

    Plough planing small parts

Scutch chisel combs would be good albeit they themselves are very hard so difficult to drill or affix to timber stock

    Vehicle batteries

I think you'll find that car batteries are way more complex than they were years ago - even those fitted to ICE vehicles. I know my Audi Avant has electronics within the battery itself that one of the in-car computers uses to communicate with it and presumably control it's charge rate, status etc

Help please- Creusen grinder humms but won’t spin

As others have advised - this sounds like a failed start capacitor but having swapped that one might suspect a wiring or contactor issue. I have a Creusen low speed grinder however I don't think it has a contactor start - just a simple on-off switch. Am out this morning but will take a closer...

What saw leaves the best finish - hand or power?

Absolutely agree with this advice - it is surprising how even my little used SCMS vibrates and wobbles a bit at start-up - less so at power down I think due to the electronic brake. That said it was smooth enough to allow sub-tct width stick-out cuts where the timber is positioned to just touche...

What saw leaves the best finish - hand or power?

A Japanese pull-saw would be my goto, and/or make a jig same dia as the dowels and trim the ends with a block plane - shooting-board style if you want an almost polished finish. Any of the shearing action mitre cutters will produce a similar finish on end-grain albeit a bit pricey to purchase
