    BA Threads

@J-G @Sandyn Whilst this discussion has been going on I have been trying to come up with the formula relating diameter to pitch. Having studied BS93 2008 data it seems that there is no such published formula. It is evident that there are clear relationships to pitch which enable the form to be...

Advice regarding an eBay purchase (this is a current problem, so advice today is required- if possible)

I was in a similar situation recently with the sale of tools to a buyer in the US. My buyer requested the inclusion of a further tool after completion of the deal. We jointly agreed to cancel the transaction which the buyer initiated through the eBay procedure. The buyer got her payment back and...

    Kity 439 Planer/thicknesser Jammed

Take the plunge and start dismantling. Take some photos on the way, they may be useful later on, especially if you need to consult the forum again. Taking this approach you may get a better idea of why the problem occurred and any apparent damage. As for resetting, cross that bridge when you...

    Yew Boards.....

There were some lots of yew recently sold at Pughs sale in January. You could search their results for previous Tool-and-Timber sales to get a better idea. Yew is often in their auctions. Brian

    Flexable curves

I've still got my Flexicurve dating from school days in the 60's. It's filled with laminated strips of lead which are intended to keep its shape but it's really only successful for creating shapes on the drawing board. I use it occasionally in the w/s for small jobs. It's about 18" long. Brian

    Flexable curves

Comments as above. Also don't use too much pressure from the guide bearing as the curve may distort. Keep the cut as small as possible and take it gently. Brian

Leg splay or not to splay?

Splayed legs do not add to the overall stability. As long as the centre of gravity of the load is inside the footprint of the legs it will be stable no matter what the leg structure is like (assuming the leg structure is well made, ie, good joints and well braced). However that can't always be...

    TIMBER!!!!!

We had a large one come down just up the road blocking the road. It snapped off about 8' above the ground. It came down at 2.30pm and was sawn up enough to open the road by 4pm. Brian

    Sold Makita BL1830 3AH Battery

Makita BL1830 18V 3AH Battery for sale. My Makita drill has been threatening to die for some time with a gearbox problem. It finally went this morning so the battery is now surplus to my requirements. £20 + P&P. The charger can be included if the buyer wishes. Brian

    Help with angled tray legs

Can the plates be attached in any orientation? If so, assemble the leg to its plate, offer it up to the tray at the desired angle and mark the position of the plate. Brian

Edge banding that looks like plywood . . .

You could try stabilising the plywood edge by gluing on a strip of whatever you have to hand. Cut off the the 4/5mm of plywood and glue it the the MDF. Then remove the stabiliser. Brian

    A Bucky Lamp WIP

The lamp is now complete but it hasn't been plain sailing since my last report. Having got it fully assembled I powered it up for a soak test and was alarmed to find the temperature had risen to 45°C. I tried boring 5 ventilation holes top and bottom but this made little difference. This was...

    Joke thread

On our first camping holiday in Germany/Austria our daughters were noting the town names as we progressed down the autobahn. In all innocence they noted that the city of Ausfahrt was awfully big:giggle: Brian
