    Pillar drill recommendations

I was assuming it is a floor standing, ie, a pillar drill. The smaller ones are refered to as bench drills or drill presses. Brian

    Pillar drill recommendations

I'd say reasonable. It depends how quickly you want it. Something cheaper could well come up if you're prepared to wait. Is it local? There could be some haggle room in there if you're that way inclined. Brian

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Chicken pie (and other life essentials) I, no we, made yesterday. Ready for lunch with our local mates in an hour's time. Best wishes everyone for a better year in 2023. Brian

    An amazing project

Just watched it and am very impressed with his ingenuity. Is that a homemade bandsaw there? I felt for him when trying to glue up his cylinder. I went through the the same heartache when making a cylinder for my clock; on a much smaller scale of course. However I hit upon a simple solution which...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Thanks for that Mike. I'd never taken any notice of that box before. So, in brief, it is assumed that the OP wants to watch his own thread (seems natural), but if he doesn't he can unwatch it from that box and therefore not receive any more notifications. Brian

Post a photo of the last thing you made

A I'll answer my own question. It looks as though the originator left the scene some 3½ years ago after 3075 posts on this thread, This is the 8130th so I guess he's not seeing them anymore.

Now that you've appeared again Bruce, you can answer a question that came into my mind just a few days ago:- Does the originator of this thread get a notification every time another post is added? Brian

    Veneer vacuum press advice

Vac systems needn't cost a fortune. See the one I sold recently here. S/h pumps are readily available on ebay from about £40 and bags can be made from plastic sheeting. Connecting pump to bag can be done with basic plumbing fittings. I would think it will only be worthwhile going to a vac...

    Pillar drill recommendations

I'm happy with my Startrite Mercury. The only thing I miss from my previous big Sealey is its rack and pinion table height adjustment. Brian

    Replacing glass in corner unit?

I would think any furniture restorer worth his salt could repair this. If it were put to me I'd have a go. I think, with care, it can be achieved with little risk of further damage. I would:- 1. Remove the door 2. Make a cradle to the support the door 3. Tape the broken glass 4. Carefully...

    Joke Thread II

On a slightly different tack, I once had to deal with a company called Stainless Steel Products and, in particular, their sales director, Mr Rust. Brian
