Number of Dominos needed to support shelf?

Here are my efforts in this field. Note the use of uprights to give short shelf spans which gives the possibility of varying individual shelf positions In the middle pic the LH unit span is over a meter and I was a bit concerned about sagging (not my design) so I included a central support on...

Number of Dominos needed to support shelf?

Depending on your shelf loading, I would expect some sag on the front edge of 25mm MDF over that length. The sag may take some time to become noticeable. I would suggest 6 dominos along the back edge, more to keep it straight than for strength. The shelves themselves could be loose, just slid...

    What a wonderful workplace

I watched Fake or Fortune yesterday which involved a company Pangolin Editions . I just had to Google it. What a fabulous enterprise in the beautiful Stroud valleys. Brian

    A Practical Maths Problem

Not really a maths problem, more of a materials behaviour characteristic. The inner 1/2mm will be compressed and the outer 1/2mm will be stretched giving a mean diameter of 17mm where the material is unchanged. Brian

    ITech BS600 bandsaw

From your description it sounds like it's got an electro-mechanical brake which is applied when the power is off. The switch will apply power to the brake without powering up the motor thus allowing you to spin the bottom wheel. The brake pressure is adjustable with an Allen key through the...

    Wanted Wanted Spindle moulder tooling

I've got a few 30mm items that need a new home. From memory there are 3, 6 & 15mm groovers and a heavy steel rebate block which needs a lot of oomph to get it going. I can give you more details in 10 days time. Brian

    Looking to get a Winch

I had a small chain hoist (now gone with downsizing) which was mostly used in horizontal mode. To make operation easier I replaced the continuous chain with a cranked handle which clamped onto the chain wheel. I used it a few months ago to pull down my garage walls. I also pulled out quite a few...

    Jointer and thicknesser options

I can recommend any of the HC260's whatever their parentage. Changing from P (or J if you prefer) to T is very easy, it takes no more than 15secs, maybe a bit more if you're positioning the dust collection hood. Frequently available on the S/H market. Brian

    Startrite Bandsaw Dust Extraction

If you're thinking of brush strip material it's difficult to get in short lengths. However it can be obtained as garage door draught excluder as 2 x 1m lengths at a reasonable price. I did this recently and used only 16" so there's a lot looking for a new home. PM me if you would like some to...

Successful router dust collection with CamVac

You're right in saying a vac needs a source of air but without it the motor speed will increase because it's not doing any work, ie, moving air. The speed increases because there's nothing to stop it. Analogy, car speeding downhill with throttle closed; the engine is racing but it's not...

    Tormek T4 Advice

The brown discolouration will be from fine iron particles but it's nothing to worry about. Does the machine come with a regrading stone and a dressing bar? If so, you'll be wanting to clean it up anyway. I've only ever used clean water without any additive. The corrosion inhibitor will only help...
