    Bandsaw Servicing

I doubt whether you would be able to find anyone to 'service' it unless it's an electrical problem. If you can outline the problems you've got there are plenty of members here who can advise. Brian

    CNC Not Cutting Round

I've got a similar problem with my old Denford which has had quite a hard life. In making my clock gears it's important to get reasonable circularity. I think my problem is due to play in the z-axis guides which is allowing the router to be a bit floppy thus causing undersized y-axis cuts. I've...

What are these living in my shed?

Mice. Have you got a hazel or cob nut nearby? If so, mice are bringing them to somewhere nice and dry to have supper. Brian

Workshop lighting upgrade advice required please.

+1 for 600 x 600 panels. I had 8 5' fluorescent tubes and I have slowly replaced them with panels as they failed. I now have a row of each down the workshop with the panels over the most used area. The only downside is fixing which in my case is more difficult than batons Brian

    Piano Desk

Let's deal with the oak first. It's going to weigh about 45kg. Yes you must assume its going to move. To minimise risk of movement you'll need a good slab of straight grained, quarter sawn oak which will look fantastic but will cost several hundred pounds. The radiator certainly won't help. I...

    Cnc router machine

These m/c's are defined by the area of the table, eg, a 3020 will cut 30cm long (x-axis) and 20cm deep (y-axis). You have to delve into the spec to get the max z-axis capacity, but I dont think you'll find problem there for your items. I would recommend going for a s/h machine where the seller...

    Wild fires in BC Canada.

That article does not address the question of how much greenhouse gas would have been given off if cows hadn't eaten it.

    Wild fires in BC Canada.

You've just eloquently iterated the thought I've always had on this argument. The only way I can see that it may some validity is if the use of fertilisers is added into the equation. However fertilisers are used for crop production as well as meat. Brian

    Work holding - CNC

I have a sacrificial layer of MDF attached to the table and I simply use c/s screws to hold the workpiece. If possible I try to fix the final object as well as the waste. If not possible then tabs are incorporated. Brian

    Co2 in the home

You die of asphyxiation at 10% CO2 content. For this reason CO2 fire extinguisher systems were replaced with water based systems. Brian

    G-code question

Well done, the learning curve is steep at this stage. My CAM system is 20 years old and has a very rudimentary simulation capability so I simulate the cut by running an 'air' cut, ie, set the z datum a few mm above the workpiece and set it going. Brian

    G-code question

2.48am This doesn't bode well 😴 DXF is being recognised as a 2D drawing. Other formats are used for 3D, eg, SFX (I think that's one). Bcnc may recognise z dimensions in such a format but you would still have to input desired number & depth of cuts. If you're cutting right through your material...

    hearing

2 months ago I phoned for a retest having gone 5 years with my Phonaks (vast improvement over the previous Siemens). I'm off to the hospital on Monday. So waiting times are dependent on your local trust. I'll report back on Tuesday. Brian

Have you set the z datum as the material top surface? Have you specified your required depth of cut Brian
