And for the colour blind transgressors our red bin is next to the green bin.

    thats the end.....!!!!!!

My colleague at work (a lecturer) tells the students a story about when he was an apprentice. He was holding his hammer (they brought their own tools) up near the head. The instructor told him that was wrong, demonstrated the correct way, and told him not to do it again. Next lesson he again...

Plunge saw buying recommendations £150-250 budget

Non of the SP6000J's I've seen for around £280 come with tracks. Axminster sell one with tracks, but that's nearly £390.

Joint Genie - gone out of business? Best alternative dowelling jigs?

Another Dowelmax devotee here. I always shied away from using dowels - accuracy was more luck than judgement, and using more than two dowels in one run meant I'd normally end up re-drilling holes oversize ! This jig makes things so easy it almost feels like I'm cheating :)

    Help please

Card / No80 scraper absolutely blew me away with how easy finish was removed from - admittedly flat - surfaces. I had some reclaimed doorframes that had multiple coats of paint and finish on them. Using the No80 removed 99% of the crud in less than 10 minutes per piece.

Help me find the best way to do an inverted T shape cut in 2.4m oak sleeper

It's a common task in metal work - put a channel down the middle with a straight cutter, then use a T slot cutter (or wing cutter) to open up the two side channels. You might be able to do the same if you can find a long t-slot cutter for the router (that you can make several passes at various...

It's just a weekend hobby - I work as an instructor/tech in the engineering department of a college. :) I sell them for a lot less than they're actually worth !

Another two finished..... well, just have to add the brass feet to the corners. Black palm and maple. Ebiara (Red Zebra) and maple.

A deaf persons internal monologue ?

It got us all in the staffroom thinking to when I asked the question. We veered off into 'Do blind from birth' people dream in pictures? through 'Do we all see colours the same? Maybe if I looked through your eyes the sky would be purple and the grass blue', and into synesthesia (People who...

A deaf persons internal monologue ?

I asked the question in the OP elsewhere, I'm going to post one of the replies (I hope the person won't mind) - you or your friend may find it interesting. (The xxxxxxx is mine)

A deaf persons internal monologue ?

This is a serious question - I really hope no-one finds it offensive. Yesterday, I was chatting to a small group of young adult students about languages. One of the lads was a Polish guy who speaks excellent English. I said "When I started to learn French many, many years ago, my teacher told...

    Abrasive choices and preferences.

I use 3M Cubitron for my palm sander ( https://bndabrasives.co.uk/3m-xtract-range ). They don't work well on my direct drive sander though. For that I use the more solidly constructed abranet (www.mypaintbrush.co.uk/mirka-abrasives )

    Anybody able to cast aluminium?

If you can draw it, I'll take a look at it :D Extremely happy it worked out Nick, the extra time it took to make the gauge pin paid dividends.
