    Which Bench/Pillar Drill

The Bosch is fantastic simply because it has electronic speed control - if you're like 95% of us you'll soon get bored of swapping belts and it'll stay on the 'one speed fits all' mode (which it doesn't). If you're limited on space, you're not doing a ton of heavy duty drilling and you're...

For a beginner with very limited tools, basic skills and not much cash, I thought this was very good.

"Off the shelf" vs DIY workbenches

One autumn about 15 years ago B&Q were selling off pine decking at a stupidly low price - something like £1 for an 8' 5"x1.5". A load of those, a sheet of ply, and a record vice from a car boot made me a bench that isn't flat, isn't heavy enough and isn't big enough (but is the right height!)...

    Chip extractor filter bags?

Cant help with the differences, but googling "Jet DC1100CK/DC1900A Fine Filter Bag" shows them at £53 here , or an old ebay listing at £42 here if that helps towards your last question :)

    Baffled by bandsaw

I think thats the biggest problem there - if the fence isn't parallel to the blade I don't see how you could ever hope the resaw anything :)

    Wood fillers

The short video I posted in this thread French Polish Technique. is what inspired me to have a go at polishing. He doesn't cover grain filling unfortunately, but he covers the application of the polish in a concise manner.

    Struggling With Motivation

Fully behind point 2 - also, if I'm struggling on the day, I'll sharpen my plane blades, then maybe my chisels, and then might clean and wax the table saw top. Just doing 'anything' often helps get you in the right frame of mind.

£1.00 a bottle - yes, you can buy it :) Remember, a hobby is something that costs £300 and 4 weeks of time to make something you can go and buy now for £10 :D

Couple of interesting French polishing articles.

Cheers Custard. After watching that Australian guy the other day I think I've been bitten by a new bug. I had a tin of old 'ready-mix' polish that must be a couple of years old, but I gave it a try on some scrap and actually got a sort of half decent finish, if you squint at it a bit from the...

    Struggling With Motivation

I always hit my addiction - YouTube I have about 100 carpentry channels, if I cant find a specific project that sparks an interest, I can usually find a cool jig or a device that I think will, at some point, make my life easier.......... once I've made a cool new piece of kit, I generally want...

    Hard wax oil over briwax

Chestnut Products provide a handy chart showing which of their finishes can be used together - I think it'll give you an idea of what you can use. Possibly their 'Woodwax22' would be an equivalent to Bri-Wax ?
