Post a photo of the last thing you made

This was originally intended as a chess board, for myself. I cut too much off one of the edges when I was tidying it up - so every time I look at it all I can see is a column of narrow squares  It sat gathering dust for 6 months, so I decided to turn it into a chopping board for one of my...

    'Precision' Clamping squares.

I didn't realize I could. I've since milled them square at work, so they at least fit for purpose now. The OP was basically a copy of the email I sent them, Hi, I have a bit of a problem. Last July I ordered – on a whim – a couple of your framing squares. (order RUL245562). They’ve sat on a...

    Metal Sash Clamps

As my engineering mentor would say 'They look a bit agricultural' haha - meant as a compliment - sturdy, a bit of heft and cope with anything :)

Hobby packs - good value ?

I know I've posted this before, but ...... well. I'm proud of this find, and it illustrates my point ! These are some doors I found in a skip - the builders let me have them for nothing just so they had more skip space. I took the glass out and left it there. This pic is about 1/3rd of the...

Hobby packs - good value ?

I'm also in Telford - AK Williams sells oak, beech, sapele and a couple of others off the shelf. (And if you're only looking for wood for small projects, don't be too proud to look in any skips you pass, I've had some brilliant finds in the past)

I knew it would be on the small side, but ...

You'd remember if you did - she's very small but holds the anger of 3 normal people .......... but it might just be living with me that causes that :p

Mine said "It's like a real one, only smaller"

So, do most of you use sketch up for your designs?

At the mo, Inventor HSM - only because I teach it at work. Reading this, SU sounds like it might be better suited for my simple carpentry projects.

Routing for beginners (and routing tables)

I made mine with a few extra tracks and slots....... and tbh I think I've only ever used the fence. I made the insert myself from a 3/8" thick piece of Ali (about 12"x8"), thats about it, the rest is ply and mdf The only real cost was the ali plate - and I use milling machines at work, so it...

Oh My - I've been so badly undercharging for my work !

When I first saw the page I thought for a second that they were children's building blocks.

    Clamping mitred corner joints

No good for picture frames, but I bought a couple of these clamp add-ons, on a whim. Not used them, yet to see how good they work. Failing that I have some Rutlands 'precision' :ROFLMAO: clamping squares that I took to work and milled square, which I clamp to.

Oh My - I've been so badly undercharging for my work !

Whatever I could get away with :D Edit - Ok, that was the flippant answer. The more thoughtful answer is it'd never occur to me to try and sell something like that, I'd never think there was a market for it, and I wouldn't believe enough people would buy it to make it a viable. That there just...

    The Lock-Picking Lawyer

Apply more rum (Edit - Removed my amusing picture of Jack Sparrow holding a rum bottle - just remembered the court case. Ooops)

I'm actually shocked. :D Particularly taken with the wine rack (Edit - removed the large picture as I realized the text could be searched for)

    Unusual German CK Pliers Tool

I worked for a demolition/salvage firm in the late 80's and one job was to take down (carefully) a storage facility. There were several thousand metal shelves, bolted to metal supports with slightly rusty Philips headed bolts and nuts. They were in aisles, about 6 inches between shelves, about...

    The Lock-Picking Lawyer

I have this vision in my mind of two overalled workmen pushing a Ford transit full of tools quietly upto a house at 3am, unloading foam covered ladders and rubber screwdrivers, going 'shhhhh' to each other :ROFLMAO:

    Workshop hardware

Personally - and everyone's choice will be different - I'd buy a table-saw first, and definitely not the cheapest one I could find. The table-saw will probably always be at the heart of your shop, you'll use it on every project, and if it doesn't cut accurately and squarely you're going to end...

    The Lock-Picking Lawyer

I didn't want to hijack another members thread, but elsewhere on the site the was some interest shown about lock picking (purely for the interest and puzzle factor!) I've found this YT channel incredibly fascinating - even if lock picking isn't specifically an interest. I now know that both of...
