    Self employment

I definitely don't do carpentry as a business, (it's my weekend hobby away from the metal I work with all week), but if I make something that I consider good enough, I'll sell it. I've had a fair few people ask me to make them stuff, and as I don't really like saying 'No', my standard reply is...

    Getting rid of sawdust

Chunks go to neighbors with log burners, sawdust goes in the big green garden waste bin - it's just plant material at the end of the day (I don't use mdf or chipboard, and very little ply).

    Whats wrong with this wood?

I agree with that - looking at how nicely the grain runs through the other fronts, the top left drawer is quite jarring.

Stanley (?) plane, type 4 - restoration advice

The last thing I can suggest is links from the site I put up in my original post www.recordhandplanes.com/links.html It's got links to such places as "The Hand Tool Preservation Association of Australia", " The Traditional Tools Group" and "New Zealand Vintage Tool Collectors Club". Sounds...

Stanley (?) plane, type 4 - restoration advice

I don't have any advice - (plenty of plane restoration vids on YT) - but that unusual looking frog caught my eye. Dating Record Handplanes It looks a bit like this one, without the bottom cut out.

    Pub Game Board

It's more of a village hall, with a bar.

    Pub Game Board

That was milled up, cut into strips and the ends mitred. My hand plane jig can't cope with larger pieces like that, so I use a 45 degree jig on the router table. -------------------- Once I glued those to the board I realised the playing surface needed to be bigger - so I repeated the...

    Pub Game Board

I promised a few people I'd try and keep a wip log of this project - I sort of, kind of succeeded. Like most people I tended to get stuck into the job and forgot all about the photo's. I took them when I remembered and hopefully it's enough to show the process I used. I was asked by a very good...

Advice on Ebay, PayPal and collection

(Rushing to leave for work - sorry if this isn't relevant, dont have time to read the thread fully) https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/experts/article-10087373/GRACE-CASE-amplifier-sold-eBay-buyer-says-never-received.html Interesting read - lots of protection doesn't apply if the article is...

Table saw Blades - seeking advice & information

No one mentioned Doug at Cutting Solutions ? People here suggested him to me years ago, a bit pricier but brilliant stuff. The pic is one of their blades compared to a Freud - both blades are the same size and the same amount of teeth.

Does PVA have a shelf life?

I've had pva that's sat in my unheated UK workshop for 3 winters or more. While I wouldn't risk gluing anything up when the temp is below about 10c, once things warm up in the spring it's perfectly fine to use. (Mainly I use Titebond 3, Gorilla and Evostick pva's)

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Not for that one, but I'm making a new project (a games board for a pub) that's very similar, I do have a few for that, I'll post them up soon
