I guess for stacking lengths of timber on?

    Which wood is this....?

A good test for Iroko is to sand it without any extraction or mask and stick a splinter of it in your finger, if you end up choking and wheezing, covered in a nasty rash and with a septic finger it's probably Iroko ;)

    Which wood is this....?

It's often hard to tell from photos but I'd say it's Iroko.

Bosch GCM 12 axial glide Mitre saw

I sometimes use a quick zero clearance fence on my mitre saw if I'm cutting short pieces but have never used a zero clearance insert. There shouldn't be a problem with chip out on the underside so is it to stop small off cuts falling between the blade and the throat plate? My saw does get...

    Integrated fridge with inset doors?

Well it's been a while but I finally got the cabinets and fridge fitted and happy to say it works perfectly, don't know what I was worrying about! Big thank you to @Joshjosh, as he suggested I made it kind of like an overlay door in a frame, it was straightforward really and turned out well...

    portable chisel storage

Not sure if it's what @Sideways meant but I use some plastic pipe in a tool tote.

    Putty advice for sash windows

I've never really got on with using the timberglaze type stuff for pointing, I do use it sometimes but find it really hard to get a neat finish, it's just so sticky. I do use it (or similar) for bedding the glass in though as Olly describes above. Hodgsons do a rapid set putty which does skin...

    Glue or not to glue

You can almost tell what the weather is doing by the T&G in my driveway gates, I'm always amazed how much it moves. We have had a nice day or two here in Yorkshire and the gaps between the boards average about 3mm. The gaps will get wider over the next few days with the warm weather...

SawStop, stops on contact with skin is coming to Europe soon!

    No Fault Evictions

A couple of years ago I got a message from the letting agency I use saying that the tenant had contacted them about a mould problem in one of the bedrooms, one of the agency team was going to check it out and did I want to tag along? I went along for a look and was quite surprised how bad the...

    Home library

Yes they are the ones. I used to avoid the finishing side of things, always said I'm a joiner not a painter but was becoming increasingly frustrated at the mess painters made of my lovely creations. I was thinking about getting a spraying set up but someone recommended I try these rollers, I'm...

I've just painted some cabinets I made for a customer using Two Fussy Blokes rollers (the red ones), more than happy with the result (y)

    Fed up with getting shocked!

I didn't appreciate the whole antistatic thing until I started hanging my extractor hose from a boom arm above my bench. I started getting shocks from the hanging hose when using my track saw, the worst part was I often got the shock from the hose catching my ear which was actually quite...

SawStop, stops on contact with skin is coming to Europe soon!

I'm quite surprised at this as I thought Festool had the SawStop thing covered over here. With some good marketing (and help from Youtube) I'm sure they will sell well, for many people it will be a no brainer, why not pay a bit more for a saw which could save their fingers? The cabinet saw is...

    Oak drawers off the shelf?

In the end I got the drawer boxes and Blum runners from Trade hinges, ordered them yesterday, they turned up this morning and I managed to get them fitted this afternoon. Very happy with them, turns out it was a good thing Hafele were out of stock :)

    Oak drawers off the shelf?

Thank you for that, he does some nice stuff. I have opened a trade account with them, won't be using them this time but might in the future (y)

Change of career - what too.

Wife and I split up about 10 years ago and even though it was all very civil it was the toughest thing I have been through so I can't imagine how hard it must be when things get more complicated. I'm not a fan of conflict and am a very balanced person where my ex was very reactive, opposites...

10" sliding table saw - crosscutting?

@Cabinetman I was originally after a Sedgwick like yours but ended up getting a proper slider/panel saw and turns out I'm glad I did. Will be interested to hear how you find your new combi with the table sliding next to blade compared to the hybrid type Sedgwick (I know you didn't like the...

10" sliding table saw - crosscutting?

I would always choose a sliding table over a sled. Once you get a bit more experience with the saw look up Fritz & Franz jig, it can be quite a useful thing on a sliding saw especially if cutting small parts.
