Wadkin BAO/S gear box oil confusion.

It seems to be a common problem with them and the parts aren't cheap. https://www.advancedmachinery.co.uk/machinery/product.asp?item=worm-wheel-for-feed-gearbox-wadkin-12in-baos-1-phase-models-b-1031-192-2635-2680...

    Rim lock

I think it will all get a bit confusing with the keep etc? Similar issue is being discussed over on the other place at the moment although they are looking for a rim type deadlock.

    Monovision?

I've reached that age where my arms aren't long enough for me to read small print but I find it a real pain having to get glasses out just to see the price tag on something or read a menu. My distance vision is fine it's just close up that's the problem. My optician suggested wearing a contact...

    jigsaws

I have an older Festool corded jigsaw, it does all I need but I don't really use it that much. For me cordless is the way forwards with jigsaws, they are one of the tools where the cord causes nothing but problems. I keep meaning to go cordless but I don't know what model to buy! I am on both...

    Loft Insulation help

I recently upgraded the loft insulation for a friend. I used 100mm insulation between the joist then 170mm on top of it running perpendicular which I think brings it to the recommended level. I made a platform using some plastic legs from B&Q and boarded it with their loft boards, it was...

    Fitting compact laminate worktops?

Thanks chaps, it's pretty much what I thought. Like I say never used it and always keen to try something different so thought I might give it a go. Went for a quick look at the job today and found out there is also a large splash back to fit above the worktop, it goes between the two tower...

    ADVICE ON MAGNETIC CATCHES

    Fitting compact laminate worktops?

Have been asked to fit one of these, never done any before, any advice? It's only one length about 2.4m long in a utility room between two tower units, no joints needed but does need a sink hole cutting out. Worktop is from Howdens, I have read the instructions and watched a couple of videos...

    Axminster AW2260s planer thicknesser

If it's this iTech you are looking at iTECH 260S Spiral Planer Thicknesser 1ph 230v looks like it has a 2kw motor and needs a 16amp supply whilst the Axi version is 1.5kw and runs off a normal 13amp plug. Also the iTech uses 66 blades but the Axi only has 24. They do look to be the same...

    Advice for loft insulation

The OP was talking about insulating between and under the rafters and also insulating between and over the ceiling joist.

    Advice for loft insulation

You could just do the ceiling joist, 75mm between them then 200mm perpendicular over the top. If you want an area for storage build a platform on some of the little plastic legs to raise it above the insulation so as not to compress it. I'm no expert but you normally have a warm roof or a cold...

Help with scribe / filler strip please!

I guess it depends on how built in you want it to look? If you keep the fillets flush with the front of the stiles you could take a vee off where the stile and fillet meet to show off the joint rather than hiding it. Alternatively you could put the same bead on the edge of the fillets where...

Looking for advice for a shop vac / extractor for Makita LS1219L?

If the extractor is just going to be dedicated to the mitre saw and stuck under a bench in the workshop I would save some money and just get a standard type shop vac with power take off. You can pick something up from Screwfix or even Lidl for probably £70, might be a bit rough round the edges...

    New Makita 2704NS1 Table Saw

It might end up being a safety feature that causes more problems than it solves. I suggest you should NEVER take the guard off but some people do and if it's a faff removing and re fitting it there is probably less chance it will get put back on again
