    Laminated door parts

Cutting up some clear pine doors for the wood burner and was surprised just how many parts the rails etc were made up of, if you include the veneers this muntin which measured 35mm x 115mm is made of 13 pieces of wood. I know laminated timber is supposedly more stable but I'm sure it's just...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

I've got fed up of carrying around my heavy tool bag full of stuff I hardly ever use so I had a play around over Christmas and made these inserts for a Systainer tool tote to take my most used tools. The only stipulation was everything must go in and out really easily. They are a bit scruffy...

Rage evolution mitre saw cut quality advice

I have never owned one but seem to recall that because the Evolution saws are designed to cut metal and plastic as well as wood the blade runs at a lower RPM than on a saw designed for cutting just wood.. I presume that if the blade can't run at the optimum speed for cutting wood the cuts are...

    Table Saw Sled

It looks like your machine takes a sliding table, if you have the sliding table you don't really need a sled.

    Festool KS60 to 100mm extractor

On my KS120 I use a 36mm hose, the extraction on it works really well. It helps to use the shortest hose you can, think mine is about 1.5m long. You can buy the short 36mm Festool hoses ready made up but they cost more than your Titan vac probably did...

    Festool KS60 to 100mm extractor

It depends if it's a HVLP bag over bag type extractor or if it's a HPLV vac type extractor?

Glass in divider over breakfast bar.

I would go with toughened even if not required by the regs just for peace of mind, 4mm toughened will be fine.

    Puzzling damp patch?

@Bingy man I don't know if dot and dab on an old external solid wall is ever a good idea. Someone I know recently renovated a house to be used as a rental property, similar to what you are doing they took everything back to bare brick, made a lovely job. It rented out for a good price as soon...

    Positive Input Ventilation advice

Looking at fitting a PIV to help a damp old house. Was thinking of maybe one of these Vent-Axia Pure Air Home with Heater Positive Input Ventilation 240V (I know it will be available cheaper elsewhere). Just wondered about peoples experiences and thoughts on if I needed a heated one like in...

    Puzzling damp patch?

Trying to work out where the damp is coming from in a wall/ceiling. It's an old house (my mothers) and we are gradually working through the list and getting the damp problems sorted but I can't fathom this one out. The main wall in the photos is an internal wall (always has been), the one...

Track saw at 45 degrees - rubber edge ruined?

You could just set your saw to 45 degrees. stand it on the track and with the power turned off gently push it down to see if it hits the splinter guard :dunno:

    Cabinet lock suggestions

Bit of an out there suggestion and not that secure but how about mounting a couple of the child safety magnetic locks. Almost like a secret lock and would save drilling holes through your new cabinet 🤔 Examples here...

    Dining tabletop board selection

If you want the top to stay flat I think the most important things are Choosing boards that are quarter sawn or as close as you have. Letting the boards acclimatise in the room the table will be in for as long as possible. When machining the wood remove equal amounts off each side. Whatever...

    Tool racking

Reminded of this by the book that @TheTiddles was selling, I would recommend watching it for inspiration on compact hand tool storage ;)

    Fitting compact laminate worktops?

Resurrecting this thread as I've been asked to do another  I must have made too good a job of the last one because the builder has asked me to do another in the latest house he's just built and this one is a bit more involved. It's to go on a large island 3m x 950mm, needs cut outs...

    Replacing glass in corner unit?

Thanks chaps, I'm almost tempted to give it a go 🤔 There are a couple of local glass suppliers I deal with so will ask them first if they know of anyone who does this kind of thing before I take my hacking knife to the putty 😉

    Replacement sofa seat foam?

Thanks everybody, some really helpful advice, I almost feel like I know what I'm doing! I shall start by looking to see if there are any foam suppliers local to me, I kind of presumed that online firms with names like "We Cut Foam" would be reasonable but yes thinking about it online firms...

Sash windows build advice on compliance..

@deema there are a lot of grey areas around the regulations for windows as it often comes down to the officer who you speak to on the day. I was once told that a repair over a certain amount (think it was 80%) was classed as a new window but I'm sure there is an argument for the Triggers Broom...

    Fixing door lining gaps...

You would put the lath on the hinge side as less chance of you noticing it at that side. If you do put a lath on the hinge side of lining your 36mm one will be fine without trimming as you want a small gap between the back of the door and the stop lath on the hinge side. Anyway don't know why...

    Fixing door lining gaps...

If you can live with a 4mm gap at each side go with that (I have seen much worse), if it's going to bug you remove the lining and re fit it. Regarding the tight one is the photo showing it hung or just pushed in place with no gap down the hinge side? You could just plane a couple of mill off...
