Advice on repair of sliding sash windows

I find the Timbabuild epoxy fillers quite good, not cheap but can save loads of time. I originally bought the starter pack to try it and now just buy the tubes as I need...

What do you charge - bathroom locks/doors

Wow, that's a bit of a rough job, you must be gutted. As I said at the start of this thread I wouldn't be hanging 5 doors like that in a day, it would have been a 2 day job and I would have been cheaper than what you paid. I don't advertise anywhere, don't have my van sign written, don't have...

    Non toxic treatment for birdboxes

I have never used the one you have linked to but have used this which sounds like the same stuff. https://www.harrodhorticultural.com/eco-wood-treatment-pid8674.html?Aff=GPL&gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4NujBhC5ARIsAF4Iv6cM1C5CC-Rt7tRwuY3CewwLQe9zXFnWnh7GnN6PiwTiatkp1oWHBOEaAuiKEALw_wcB I felt a bit...

Axminster Basingstoke due to close because of "dramatically increasing costs"

I guess a fair amount of the Axminster stores footfall will be people going in for a look and play with the different things they are thinking of buying before they then go home and order it online from somewhere cheaper.

    Bradite One Can paint?

Anybody got any long term experience of this stuff externally? My mothers windows are badly in need of a paint and I was thinking of using it, I have used it a couple of times externally when it's been supplied by customers and I was really impressed with it. It seems too good to be true but...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

It's not too bad if you have decent, well set up machinery as all the angles are the same. Not much marking out really, for the doors it was just cut the stiles and rails so they are a tight fit in the opening, domino and glue them together then trim about 1mm off all round for clearance.

    Hammer outfeed table adjustment

My friend bought a Felder planer and paid for one of their engineers to come out and set it up, I got the feeling he wasn't very happy with the service considering what it cost. Apparently the engineer only had a 600mm long straight edge to set up the large PT so my friend lent him a longer one...

Charnwood 619 table saw dust extraction improvements

Not sure if it's what you are looking for but someone mentions improving the dust extraction the way you say on a 629 in this thread. https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/threads/charnwood-w629-table-saw-2-buy-or-not-2-buy.140516/

    Titanium hammers?

Well I finally got round to getting a titanium hammer (birthday present to myself). I went for a 10oz Stiletto with a wooden shaft, I was initially looking at the 14oz version but it is huge, obviously designed for knocking in big nails all day which I rarely do. It turned up today and it does...

    5 bar gate dimensions?

I would use through tenons, the 3"x1" rails often aren't really tenoned, just the full size rail pushed through a mortise. There are loads of different styles, some with uprights in the middle some without, If you put an upright in the middle and want to dovetail it it's something like this...

    New Mafell router

With the extended handle you often have one hand on the handle and the other on the router base or the base and work piece so there is no chance of tipping. If you look at the Festool parallel guide it has a knob on it so when using that you often hold the handle on the router and the knob on...

    5 bar gate dimensions?

Normally something like a 4" or 5" x 3" hinge stile, 3"x3" at the swinging end. Top rail 3" thick tapered from the hinge end maybe 4" to 3" All the rest 3"x1", probably 1 vertical up the middle on a gate that width (dovetailed in), 4 horizontal rails and some diagonal braces on the other side...

What do you charge - bathroom locks/doors

I'm always amazed by how many doors some people seem to hang in a day. I could maybe do 5 on a new build if everything was spot on, nothing in the way and I was all jigged up but I'm normally doing replacements in a customers house and there is no chance of me doing 5.

    New Mafell router

Maybe because it's what I'm used to but I really like the pokey out handle style, great for single handed use. It's a shame Mafell don't do a Plug-it version of all their tools that is compatible with Festool leads, I think a lot of people would choose that option.

    Carved/embossed wooden beading supplier?

Might be looking to create a similar effect to the beading around the front of this mantle on some shelves, anyone know a supplier of strips of similar carved type beading to just stick on? Doesn't have to match exactly, egg and dart or something would probably do. I have found bits on Ebay and...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Today I hung a door that I'd made and fitted a length of architrave that I'd made to match the original. Worst part of the job was drilling out and fitting the 5" deep latch, never fun in thin doors 😬 Before After Architrave I had to cut the rebate off one side of the casing and fit a...
