    Festool Garbage?

As is often the case with Festool this is a bit of a niche product, I'm sure it will do what it's designed to do really well but won't be for everyone. It's meant to be ultra portable hence cordless and looks a great set up if you get the cart etc that is available. Not for me but I'm sure for...

    Book Shelves

I did some bookshelves in pine last year, can't remember if the shelves finished 22mm or 27mm. Anyway I remember I bought some unsorted 6" wide timber and cut it down the middle so I could flip each piece to avoid cupping similar to what you are talking about doing. I'm sure once I had planed it...

    Book Shelves

I would look at the ready made pine shelf type stuff, some people call it furniture board, will probably work out easier and cheaper than joining it all up yourself.

    Replacing a DG unit.

I made an Oak window a while ago which was going to be oiled, I presumed the Flexistrip wouldn't stick to the oil so I gave the rebates and back of beads a coat of clear acrylic external varnish, that seemed to work, the flexistrip stuck to it anyway.

    Bradite One Can paint?

I read a review that said the same, I also found that to be the case with the white Bedec MSP. I made a window for a customer and used the Bedec on it, after I think 5 coats you could still see through it. I have got the windows painted now using the Bradite, it was an Anthracite kind of colour...

    Replacing a DG unit.

RTFM ;) Sorry only joking, but yes the timber needs to be primed or base stained as it mentions in the data sheet. https://www.hodgsondirect.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Flexistrip-PDS.pdf

Cabinet hinge for über thick doors...?

These say they do 43mm thick doors, might work...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

I'm making an effort to try and post something every week so here's todays job. Rotten doorframe cill and Jambs, listed building so they were keen for just a repair, although I don't think Meranti cills and Macclex strips have much historical interest! It was quite bad which is why I'm...

Dust extraction for AP260SPT Planer Thicknesser

Before investing in a new extractor I would give it a try with the Yorkleen or the Charnwood that you already have, they might be okay if you are taking it steady, also they will have a much better filtration rate than the bag type.

    80's wood type?

Ranch style handrailing was the height of fashion at one time, I'm sure it will make a come back in some form although it doesn't comply with building regs these days. Funny how fashions change, a friend has a bathroom showroom, his main display at the moment is an Avocado suite, tells me...

    Joinery software

A chap I know recently got prices from 5 different suppliers for 15 Accoya sash windows for his house (listed so all Heritage DG etc). The prices ranged from £68,000 to £73,000, he was surprised how close the prices were, I suggested they probably just all used the same pricing software.

    80's wood type?

From the fact you said 80's ranch style handrails I guessed Parana Pine before seeing the photo. After seeing the photo I would still say Parana but it is often more colourful than that. It's on the endangered list so hard to come by these days.

    Don't think it's Oak 🤔

    Price of European Oak?

Had a delivery from Lavers yesterday and among it was a length of European Oak. I haven't had any Oak for a while and got a shock at the price, about £4,200 a cubic metre. It was just a 3m length of about 105mm X 63mm, with VAT it's about £127, is this the going rate or should I be giving them...

What do you charge - bathroom locks/doors

A joiner I know chops the hinges double into internal doors whenever he can, I do it on small cupboards etc but not on internal doors. You might as well just use flush hinges if you chop them in double as the whole point of a butt hinge is that the hinge mortises for the leaves help support the...

    Multico morticer.

Yes, you normally see the opening in the front of the chisel but all the old boys have the opening to the left or right to let the chips clear quicker. Some great advice on set up and use here. https://www.thewoodhaven2.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5038&p=76979&hilit=mortiser+set+up#p76979

    Sedgwick PT255

I would try taking that piece of ply that splits the hood out, it could be causing problems, you can always put it back in again.

    Working out a U value

For the trickle vents on the outside you can sometimes get a bit creative and put a hole in the underside of the head drip then put one of these over/in the hole if you don't want to use the normal plastic vents...

    Sedgwick PT255

Bit of a thread here showing the OEM hood but most people make do with a wooden box similar to what you have. https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/threads/sedgwick-cp-dust-hood.114862/ When planing over the top my box works best in the opposite end to where common sense tells you it should go but...

    Working out a U value

I had this problem a while ago, the old local building inspector was happy to work on just the centre pane U value but the new one wants to know the total U value of the whole window  I looked on line and found a few firms who would do it for me at a cost or there were some free...
