    Saw stop ( USA )

The SCM system looks the same as what Altendorf are doing.

    Saw stop ( USA )

If my saw had SawStop I would use it exactly the same as I do now, fully guarded and with push sticks. An unguarded blade scares the hell out of me whether it comes with finger sensing technology or not, plus take the guard off and you can get all kinds of stuff thrown at you. I will hopefully...

    Parkinson's no 61 vice

Joseph Parkinson invented the quick release vice and called this new vice the Perfect Vise. Legend says that despite coming from Yorkshire he deliberately chose the American spelling 'vise' so there was no possibility of a double meaning whereas 'vice' to the Victorians was a very meaningful...

    Wadkin planer/ thicknesser project

There is a good chance it needs the two parts below to get the thicknesser working which are crazy expensive, should be a nice surfacer for someone though. It just needs pairing with the Sedgwick that was posted a few days ago that had the broken infeed table and you could have a nice cheap...

Osmo oil on a Wickes Oak door? (says not to)

I think the only oil Howdens recommend for use on their Oak doors is Osmo door oil, like Wickes their doors say not suitable for oils and waxes but they do add Osmo door oil is okay to use, don't know how it's different to other oils though. https://osmouk.com/product/door-oil/

Nature of the game WARNING this post contains graphic images of a hand injury

A bit like this one that I acquired.....also looks like the spacer rings have worn a groove in the centre, don't know what has happened there 🤔 Surprisingly I haven't used it yet.

    Making interlocking table base

Is there anything under the top to hold the legs in place? If not fasten some laths under the top to create a kind of groove for the legs to sit in. Should cut down the wobble and stop the top getting knocked off!

Planer Thicknesser - Old one with a helical head?

If you are asking about the quick change blade system that @Sam Kilby mentioned he was probably talking about the ESTA (Bruk, Barke) system. I use them on my old Sedgwick planer and think they are great. There is no setting involved, the blade carrier has 2 little lugs which just sit on the...

    Doweller minimum fence height

Can you put a packer on top of your workpiece, this will lift the doweller up making the holes higher?

    Repairing Summerhouse Doors

I suspect the rot has been caused by two things. The beading creates a groove so when water runs down the door it's getting trapped between the face of the boarding and the back of the bead, it's better if the boarding runs over the front of the bottom rail so there isn't a water trap. I...

    Battery compatibility

There are a couple of systems but many of the brands involved are not that well known. https://www.cordless-alliance-system.com/ https://www.bosch-professional.com/us/en/ampshare/

    DIY window shutters?

Does the window have a wooden lining or a plaster reveal? If it's a wooden lining you can sometimes hang the shutters off this, if it's plaster it's better to have a wooden frame around. The problem with shutters that are made completely out of MDF is hinging them as the edge of MDF doesn't...

    Making interlocking table base

My bench was only CNC as I bought it as a ready made kit, it didn't cost much more buying the kit than it would have cost for just the sheet of Birch ply. You could knock yours out in no time with just a handsaw (if you can saw straight). Regarding paint if you just want simple black paint a...

    Making interlocking table base

You will probably be fine with just a mill or so clearance, mine was CNC cut and didn't have any noticeable clearance at all when I got it, some ***** then thought it was a good idea to give it a couple of coats of thick varnish to protect it which probably didn't help.........;)

    Making interlocking table base

I bought a slot together Birch ply workbench to keep in my van, it does get annoyingly hard to assemble if left in my van any length of time but if I then leave it in a customers house for a couple of days it slides together nicely again. It probably only needs 0.5mm trimming off the slots but...

Festool HK55 worth it for a newbie Circular saw??

Plunge saws are great on a track but not so great to use without a track, I bought the parallel guide fence for my TS55 about 15 years ago and have used it only twice. I'm planning on hopefully getting a HKC55 soon as it is a great allrounder but to get the most from it you really need a FSK...
