    Centre pivot timber window

Can you have a bit of a redesign and put the hinges on the inside?

    Cabinet doors wider than tall

The bead was the customers idea (seen it in a brochure), I think it looks quite nice, makes the doors look a bit different to the normal shaker style. The best thing about the bead is it doesn't add any complication to the joint, they are still just butt joints with dominos in :) The...

    Cabinet doors wider than tall

I was making some cabinet fronts today and thought of this thread. This door is about 300 high X 600 wide, I'm confident it will be okay, guess only time will tell.

Osmo Polyx Oil Raw 3044 Advice

Could you wrap the brush in cling film, should stay soft for a day or two then chuck it when you've finished this project?

    Repairing a cordless driver

According to this video it should be okay if it's a Festool 🙄 The video is from a few years ago, you do wonder if this guy is still around or if he's managed to get himself a Darwin award.........

    Howdens

If you are in the trade Howdens is a necessary evil, there is always one close by and they generally have stuff in stock but nobody likes the pricing thing. It is better now as account holders can access prices for most things online which didn't used to be the case but unfortunately you still...

    Clamex S-20 Biscuit connector 'fix'

Today I was fitting a largish built in cabinet with face frame using dominos and the Clamex S-20 connectors to hold the face frame in place. I was having trouble getting everything lined up and and I realised it was the Clamex that were making it difficult. The problem was the Clamex have...

    Retail mark up

My ex owns and runs a nice little deli and off licence which also sells giftware. She often moans about the wannabe artists (apparently generally middle aged women) and craft people who want to take over her precious shelf space to display the tat they have made. When she asks what's in it for...

    Circular Saw Vs Track Saw

Track saws are fantastic, so quick and easy to use as @sammy.se said just get one, you will soon wonder how you managed without it.

    Pergola Post Base

I think the slot type look the most aesthetically pleasing and are what you tend to see on higher quality work.

Hopper style window might be a good starting point.

    drill depth stop question

This is my depth stop for shelf pin holes, not pretty but it doesn't slip.

    Butt hinge size

Maybe worth noting that when people talk about a penny gap around a door they are talking about a gap the thickness of an old penny not these new fangled little decimal things.

    LED light door questions

I don't use LED lights much and am no expert on the subject but when I need them I use the Loox system from Hafele, it seems a decent quality and simple system. I generally end up phoning their technical helpline, describe what I'm doing and want to achieve and they advise what I need. Last...

Recommend me the best countersink for wood / ply

I've tried a few of the deburring type and found the Festool version to be good, it's sharper than the rest and doesn't seem to clog as much as my others, I think that's because it has a bigger hole through the middle...........Typical Festool, half the metal and twice the price 🤣

Finished an Exterior Oak Table with Hardwax Oil - Help!

I would say keep the table indoors, it's far too nice to be an outside table! A couple of years ago a house in our village had a nice large pair of Oak driveway gates plus pedestrian gate fitted. It looked like the gates were kiln dried Oak and the posts air dried, the gates were finished with...

Which woodworking YouTube channels do you watch?

Never see this chap mentioned, he's a bit of a Bradshaw Joinery type as in he actually knows what he's doing and doesn't try to sell you anything.

    Lidl table saw

Often called a table saw insert or throat plate.

    Memorial cross

Think I would be trying to do it in just 2 pieces using some kind of cross halving joint, either mitred or scribed. I would have to make a quick mock up out of softwood to get my head around it though.

    Tapered Cuts

Do as @Cabinetman suggests above for the first one then you can use that one as a pattern for the rest by running it alongside the table saw fence with another piece to be cut next to it if that makes any sense?
