Advice Please- Table Saw Push Sticks and Disks

So this got me looking at the YouTube experts, oh dear, Katz Moses? Using lots of different ones with saw handles that take your hand right across the top of the blade, and then the clown says he doesn’t like the style we are pushing as it keeps your hands too far away!!! No crown guard of...

    Quarter round bathroom sink cabinet

Very different to the sort of furniture I make, but obviously there are a whole lot of skills extra that have to be learned, I’m finding this fascinating thank you, not that I’m likely to want to take it up! Ian

Kiln dried vs Air dried oak

I was building a bed to a clients design a few years ago, it called fo 4” square legs, The timber yard I use whilst excellent only had Oak that was air dried over 3 inch thick, they told me that the moisture conrent would be around 20% which it nearly was. I left a piece of it on the bed of my...

    oak for bowls?

I think there’s much more of a market for bowls that you should put fruit in lol. Can’t say I’ve ever heard of not putting food on Oak though, it’s metal it reacts to usually.

Nature of the game WARNING this post contains graphic images of a hand injury

Mine was getting my hand in the way of a chisel, but I was young and obviously stupid!

Saw Bench Project Norwich, Norfolk, £40.00

Hadn’t spotted the handle, yes reminds me of a military ammunition box handle. Something about the obscured label is ringing a bell, I must have had something years ago from them I think. The mc certainly looks quite old, I’m thinking 40’s or 50’s with that crown guard

    Is this expensive?

Obviously it’s always cheaper if you buy whole sheets, as you say it’s not cheap but it’s not a total ripoff either. If you need and want it and don’t need a full sheet then go for it. It depends what you want it for, it’s less than 4mm thick so it will be bendy. Ian

Advice Please- Table Saw Push Sticks and Disks

I thought you might like to see this, it’s a saw very similar to yours that I built into a worktop for Dil, it all had to be very carefully measured to work. But you can shim and wedge to get it set right. The fence on those saws extends way out to the right, as you can see there are a couple of...

Advice Please- Table Saw Push Sticks and Disks

Well you’re starting off right! Personally I like mine a bit thicker and shaped to be comfortable, sometimes you need to exert some force so it helps. Discs? If you mean those finger things, can’t say I’ve ever missed them tbh. This is a pic from when I was trying to stop injuries on here.

    Repairing Summerhouse Doors

Somebody has already repaired those bottom corners to a level higher than the existing rails. If you do attempt to join bits onto the bottom of the rails definitely use the second method but it will only be a stopgap measure till they go again. Sorry for the bad news but they really are just a...

Planer Thicknesser - Old one with a helical head?

Personally after reading up on it a bit, mainly reviews from users, I would go for Tersa blades. You could probably pick up an older mc as you were suggesting easily enough and the finish is actually better on the vast majority of woods than helical cutters which come into their own on the most...

For Sale Fancy a Lifestyle Change? FS: Woodside Cottage with Large Workshop & Business

Not looking to move but thanks for bringing it here, I really do hope you have, as you say "after much deliberation" as that appears to be as idyllic a spot and lifestyle as it’s possible to achieve. If it’s too much work for you both you could maybe farm some of it out? About the only thing I...

    Moving a wood burner.

Just a thought and I don’t know much about it, but with a long horizontal run like that do you run the risk of condensation build up in the flue? I’ve heard good things about rocket stoves, I suppose heating a mass will take a little time, so not so warm at the beginning but it should pay off...

Advice re. replacement pillar drill table

If it were me I would make a collar with a split etc from Hardwood and fair it out with two arms probably mortised into the collar, onto which you could mount the ply, this also gives you the opportunity to cut back the arms to make sure the table is level. Obviously I don’t do metal! I’m...

    Invisible glued joint

Well we all have our different ways but this seems like an awful lot of fuss and effort when you could just use PVA, I’ve always used Evostick and never had a glue joint fail, and I’ve built a Lot of furniture. Ian
