    Parkinson's no 61 vice

Interesting thanks Doug, yes ok. but I wouldn’t ordinarily use that spelling!

    Setting up a plane

That’s interesting and not something I would have thought of, quite possibly that was the op's problem?

    Wood 'Grown to shape'

That is a seriously strong looking boat.

    Wadkin FM24” Planer Restoration

I thought at first there was a break in the casting inside the gearbox, but then realised it was missing red paint! The more I see of the engineering on this beast the more impressed I am. Ian

Is Gorilla woodglue strong enough for this project?

I think a glue like Evostick or Titebond would be better and easier in a situation like this. And yes it will be strong enough without nails. Another way to stop pins splitting the wood is to snip the head off one ( mind your eyes) then use it as a drill bit to go full depth into both pieces of...

Old Shipwreck found on beach Orkney

Try post Nr 11, I don’t know what I’m talking about either lol. Ian

    Louvre Roof System

Fairly simple thing to make yourself I would have thought, presumably you don’t need it motorised with a remote lol. Ian

Bitumastic or asphalt flooring and/or cheaper options

Looks v good, even better than the same but OSB that I used, yes that will give a floor that will last a lifetime.

Bitumastic or asphalt flooring and/or cheaper options

At first I thought, What?? But actually for hugely heavy equipment that’s a good idea.

    Wood 'Grown to shape'

Yes as said. Now what was grown to shape, (if I could remember what the hell it was lol,) was it hockey sticks,or briar pipes, walking sticks, or perhaps the other thing I can’t remember. Ian

    Saw stop ( USA )

Doug, sorry you just need to start that vid earlier, but that is an incredible piece of kit. But expensive, commensurate with the price of the saw really I suppose, uses cameras and Ai for those who didn’t watch. Ian

    Saw stop ( USA )

I think Jacob is correct and that having the flesh sensor does and will promote a feeling of "it doesn’t matter" as the technology will save me, and that is never going to be a good frame of mind to be in when using a table saw. Ian

Old Shipwreck found on beach Orkney

Well thanks for that, but it’s like no ship construction I’ve ever seen, not that that says much lol. The ribs are next to each other, so I had a look at the Mary Rose, and again it looks a most unusual construction to me, different layers running in opposite directions. Just shows what I...

    Industrial planer/thicknesser service

Are you looking for a regular commercial company or could members help out for a one off?

    Wadkin FM24” Planer Restoration

@ScottyT said ."I have never even seen one of these before, since joining this forum at times I’ve felt like I’m back in the dark ages, never heard of an ‘MFT’ or a track saw before hitting this place and a wide variety of other things!!!!" You and me both, felt a right numpty when I had to ask...

Also Tersa, but I would bet this baby is staying as it was created. Me it would be Tersa.

Old Shipwreck found on beach Orkney

The BBC again, they won’t let you see the pics if you’re not in the uk, first one shows for a couple of seconds but then zilch, but it’s the sort of thing I like, seems very well preserved.

    Aqualisa Shower

Aqualisa showers often have a "remote" to start it before you get in, it’s possible that wire comes from that, or it could be the power of course.

Bitumastic or asphalt flooring and/or cheaper options

Those stable mats are really solid and incredibly heavy, machinery doesn’t normally have small points on footprints so should be ok. Once had a Bitumen floor poured, wonderful smell for a few days! Should be fine with equipment on it but a bit concrete like for standing on. The plastic sheet...
