    Buying from Europe

What...?......Compared to how easy it was before we left the EU you mean.....? 🙄 Is this supposed to be one of those so called " Brexit Benefits " that we have all been searching for since 2016...?

    Router is extremely loud

I also have quite a few routers and by far the loudest is my little Makita 240v trimmer router......That thing screams like a banshee and hence why I only use it as a trimmer, thankfully it doesn't get used a lot. I have a few older 1/2" Dewalt & Elu routers & a couple of Porter Cable routers...

Festool TSC 55 cordless plunge saw - Riving knife vs KickBackStop model?

I didnt know that a thinner riving knife was available to fit the earlier saws that was compatible with the recent 1.8mm kerf blades....! There are the odd occasions in my work process, where a thinner blade/ riving knife combination would be useful. 👍 PS. My 240v saw is also about 15 years...

Festool TSC 55 cordless plunge saw - Riving knife vs KickBackStop model?

😮 That's the first I've heard of that ! I will look into it...... I was under the impression that the thinner blades were not compatible with the older model saws?

Festool TSC 55 cordless plunge saw - Riving knife vs KickBackStop model?

Although the efficiency of the dust extraction on my corded TS55 is really very good ( I usually use a 36mm dia hose....), I have been impressed by the dust collection of the cordless version with its dust bag fitted......Admittedly, it's not as good which is to be expected, but having no hose...

Festool TSC 55 cordless plunge saw - Riving knife vs KickBackStop model?

I'm sure I remember reading something recently where some people were finding the thinner saw blades were vibrating or cutting wonky...? Not sure if it was on here or somewhere else? I can understand the principle of a thinner kerf blade requiring less power to cut through the same material...

Festool TSC 55 cordless plunge saw - Riving knife vs KickBackStop model?

I have the REB model with the riving knife and I also have the 240v version, also with a riving knife. I decided on the knife version for the following reasons. I have yet to try one of the newer knife-less versions of either saw, but I have to say, having used both of my saws extensively, I...

    Buying from Europe

I like to think of myself as a rational, level headed person who researches to a high degree to gain as much information about something before I buy into it or make a decision. Back in 2016, i treated the Vote in exactly the same way and i like to think i studied all the pros & cons of both...

Advice on different brands of MR MDF for MFT suitability

I'm sure you will find the Kronospan MRMDF to be fine for your needs......Just take on board what some of the others have said regarding protecting the board and get all them holes drilled...! 😁

Removing/replacing a fitted kitchen cupboard back?

Kitchen cabinet backs vary in thickness and in the method that they are fixed in position. The backs can be either thin hardboard type material, 8mm chipboard or 18mm chipboard, all depending on who the manufacturer of the cabinets is. The thinner backs tend to be fixed top & bottom by means of...

Advice on different brands of MR MDF for MFT suitability

I had this one made for me by a guy I know with a CNC business. It's a Medite board I think (normal MDF top & bottom with a Green central core) He made it for me back in 2018 and it's now been extensively cut into, but I'm yet to flip it over and start cutting into the underside. I do consider...

Key switch to operate - where to buy?

Yes, I believe so. The other option (KS2) is "Momentary" and I believe that means you would have to hold the key in the on position for it to continue activating whatever you are using the switch for. I'm sure @Spectric can confirm...?

How to make the lid/top and not screw up mitres

With all due respect Fleyh, your Spalted Beech doesn't appear to be particularly "Spalty", so I may be able to help you out. I have a couple of offcuts of Spalted beech from a couple of previous projects. The reason I never used them was that the wood didnt have the black Spalting so extensively...

    Stainless steel splashback

I quite often have to stick Stainless Steel splashbacks up and tend to use Silicone Sealant as an adhesive to do so. I always clean the back with Denatured Alcohol beforehand and clean & scuff the wall surface.......This ensures good adhesion! 👍

    Cars that make you smile

I had a 1989 2WD Sierra Sapphire Cosworth that I bought from a specialist dealer in 1991....It was in mint condition and really low mileage and had had no modifications from when it rolled out of the factory. It was a joy to drive and it put a smile on my face every time I sat behind the...

    Jigsaws

I believe the Mafell is generally accepted within the Trade as being in a class of it's own when it comes to jigsaws. A good mate of mine has a few Mafell tools and had always stated that he would one day splurge and buy the jigsaw, so a couple of years back, it was his 50th birthday, so a few...

Is a full size guide rail worth it?

Admittedly, the majority of my usage of the 3000mm rail is in my workshop and I also do have plenty of room for storage and moving it about. Mine came in a wooden storage case and I do store it in that when not being used. On the odd occasion when I take it to a site, it's easy enough to...
