    Sheet Material for cabinets

It does vary in quality, but if you stick with Egger or Kronospan, you wont go wrong.

    Sheet Material for cabinets

The carcass material of your Magnet units will be MFC (melamine faced chipboard), not MDF. White 18mm MFC is available from literally dozens of suppliers....

    I love being retired.

I good mate of mine retired about 5 years ago (he was 55 at the time and 6 months younger than me) and will come and give me a hand to carry/deliver large items to a job if I ask him. On one occasion, i asked for his help and I suggested we could do the delivery on a weekend if it was more...

    Price of the sheet materials

????......According to your own link Droogs, it stated that back in May 2016, 42% of plywood was imported from China, 16% came from Brazil and only 19% came from the EU..... Admittedly, none of it was made in the UK..... I wonder if that is still the case and whether any of those percentages...

Noob question but do cross cut sleds go out of square over time?

To be fair, I wouldn't have made the runners out of MDF.....I have a small sled I made for segment cutting on my table saw and used pre sealed MDF for the sled and Oak for the runner. This time of year, bare MDF is going to absorb moisture and likely to throw out the accuracy of your sled....It...

Noob question but do cross cut sleds go out of square over time?

What is the table slot runner made of and did you seal the MDF with anything ...? Edit. Jameshow is thinking the same as me....

    MFT - wossit all about?

Me and two of my mates were sitting in the Amphitheatre in Pompeii about 15 years ago......It was a scorching hot day and as interesting as it was, we couldn't help partially enacting the Judean Peoples Front..(or it may have been the Popular Front of Judea..) scene...When my mate shouted across...

    Track saws?

I also tend to clamp mine as well from habit,....although, if you're just straight cutting a bit of MDF or plywood, the non slip strips on the underside of the rails is usually enough to keep the rail from moving during a cut. Glossy or painted surfaces, I always clamp or, more often than not...

    Track saws and thin blades

I've used my TS55 on a couple of occasions to rip 40mm thick solid Oak worktops down to size.....My TS55 is a 240v model, and I've not had any issues with deflection when using a 12 tooth blade. The 110v version of the saw is renowned as being underpowered and apparently, the battery version of...

    Track saws and thin blades

Aren't the Festool TS55 blades and the MT55 blades both 160mm in dia...? Or do you mean 0.4mm difference in the kerf..?

    Track saws and thin blades

I've just had a look and it seems Mafell do a 24 tooth blade and an 18 tooth blade, which in theory would be suitable for rip cutting solid timber..... But the plate thickness is only 1.2mm...😯😯😯....I would imagine anyone using a blade that is that thin is going to see deflection of some sort...

    Track saws and thin blades

I have a fair bit of experience using a tracksaw but all my blades are 2.2mm Kerf....I've not used any of these thinner kerf/plate blades. So, a genuine question.....Are the thinner kerf blades designed & sold on the basis that they are suitable for use on solid timber as opposed to sheet...

    Cutting kitchen worktop advice!

You could do the joint by means of a "Mirror Cut" with the tools you have, but you would still need a long " straight" edge.... The straight edge doesn't necessarily need to be perfectly straight, as long as it doesn't bend more than a mm or 2. A length of edged kitchen plinth would suffice at a...

    MFT - wossit all about?

😂😂😂 Oh dear Jacob! Perhaps you are correct,...perhaps not! Perhaps some of the other commenters on this thread can see the irony and they also perhaps dont know what it means...? I think I've contributed enough to this thread of yours as I clearly feel no amount of experience or advice that...

    Festool ts55 advice

When I was planning & building my boom arm, I did consider using the PVC pipe as a means of extraction, but I do machine a lot of manmade boards and material and these do generate quite a lot of static when cutting/machining....The PVC pipe doesn't give me the Anti Static advantage that I get...

    Festool ts55 advice

A mate of mine had a 110v TS55 which I used on a couple of occasions but I've only ever had a 240v TS55 myself. The 240v version definitely has more grunt..! Regarding the Festool hose, ...I have mine attached via a boom arm along with the power cable above my cutting bench position. The cable...
