    Collated Screwdriver

    1. I've had a 240v Makita collated screwdriver for about 20 years....Admittedly, it doesn't get used every day but it's still going strong and when using it to fix up plaster board sheets, it's a godsend. 2 & 3. I buy my screws for it from Screwfix....They also sell exterior type collated...

Fitting Phenolic Base to Router for Sign Making Kit

What is the diameter of the hole in the existing phenolic base from the router you want to use...? It states on the Rutland site that the brass bush has a diameter of 13mm. All I would do is make a template spacer bush with an internal hole of 13mm and an outside diameter the same as your...

Did you buy any cheap tools that surprised you with being actually good?

I bought an "own brand" small compressor kit that came with a nail gun, 2000 brad nails, a coiled airline, a tyre inflator with pressure gauge and the 6 litre compressor, all for £99 all in from B&Q about 20 years ago.....Its still works perfectly and has been used extensively. 🤞🤞👍👍 More than...

    Ultrasonic cleaners.

I've watched a guy on YouTube using one, mainly to clean Carburetor parts (Mustie 1) and I always thought there was a proprietary cleaner that had to be used in them.....I never imagined that it would be just water...!! Edit. Just had a quick search and found this as an example...

    Startrite TA175 riving knife alignment

I think the smaller washer is OEM and it acts as a spacer to distance the first conical washer.....I've never seen the larger of the two washers (as shown in Big Paul's picture) fitted to a Startrite TA saw and I've worked on and refurbished quite a few...

    Startrite TA175 riving knife alignment

The smaller of the washers goes on the arbour first. Then one of the two conical shaped washers, the blade and the second conical washer are all that are needed to mount the blade, as long as the blade has a 5/8" dia hole. 78, 87 and 88 on Deema's exploded diagram. That larger diameter washer...

    Startrite TA175 riving knife alignment

It certainly looks like there is an additional washer that wouldn't normally be there.... When you zoom in on the 2nd photo, you can see the 2 conical shaped spacer washers on both sides of the blade but there is definitely something else between the rear spacer and the rear of the blade. Edit...

    Hole saw set

You can buy an arbour that will take the larger sized holesaw cutters & will fit in a 10mm chuck.....I have one! I cant remember where I got it from but I've had it 30 years. I'll see if I can find one and post a link.... Edit. Here's an example....It has a 9.5mm shank so will fit in your...

    Rail saw wierdness

Is the material you're cutting MFC....? If so, it could be stress in the panel that, when cut, the 2 boards are springing apart.....

    Parkside (Lidl) track saw

removing a bolt that holds a saw blade on (stripped head) You may want to take a look at the thread I've linked to above.... The question as to whether it was LH or RH thread was covered at length.......It is a RH thread, clockwise to tighten, anti clockwise to loosen!

    Bandsaw blade tracking problem

I have a Record BS 250.....It does not have a quick release lever like my larger Axminster bandsaw does. When I set up a blade on the Record, I count the amount of turns required to tension the blade. Once tensioned and set up correctly, after use, I just slacken the tension back the same...

    Xmas is coming ...

We also put ours outside during the warmer months, then bring them back in before any chance of frost. One of ours was decimated about 16 years ago when we got 2 new kittens.....They used to climb on it and we thought it may not ever recover, but it did! Neither have ever shown any sign of...

    Got any recommendations for squares?

I have a few Woodpeckers tools....all are top quality, reliable and although not cheap imports from the Far East, worth the money. Personally, I dont see the point of cutting up sections of wood and relying on them to stay "Square" when you can buy a square that's guaranteed to stay square...

    Sheet Material for cabinets

I should have said "Swiss Krono" rather that just Kronospan......Kronospan have a factory in Wales and in my experience, the quality of that board isn't as good as the Swiss board ( often it has bits of plastic and assorted foreign objects in it....) Its known as "Chirk", after the Welsh town...

    Sheet Material for cabinets

With all due respect to Jewsons, it's not likely to be the better quality board that they will be selling, no matter whether its 15 or 18mm.... I make my own drawer bottoms from 16mm material, because that's what the drawer box runner/ sides that I use requires. In the big scheme of things, the...
