    Withdrawn Everything

About 30 years ago, my little van was broken into and about £1500 worth of tools stolen....I called the Police and when the copper turned up he said there had been a spate of van and garage break in's in the area recently and he & his fellow officers had a good idea who the offenders were. I...

    Startrite T/A 145? motor upgrade

Marty, Don't machine the riving knife!!!.....If it's not aligned correctly, just adjust its mounting bolts until it is aligned. But make sure that you have the correct thickness blade on the saw first. The accepted method of judging the thickness of the riving knife is, it should be a bit...

    Startrite T/A 145? motor upgrade

Looking at the picture you posted of your saw in post 10, .....it seems your saw is more like a TA 165 than a TA145. Having said that, the riving knife, saw blade dimensions and pulleys are the same for both models. I think you will struggle to find an "off the shelf" more powerful replacement...

Only one capacitor on these motors...and a centrifugal switch.

    Startrite T/A 145? motor upgrade

Your picture is an original motor for the TA 145 & 165 saw. The method of mounting is the same as the 165 model but different to the 175 and 275 models which had more powerful motors. I have a fair bit of experience of these saws as I have refurbished quite a few. From what you described, it...

    Withdrawn Everything

There really are some low life people out there who would stoop so low to nick a tradesman tools....😡😡 I have a small mitre saw 240v that is a few years old but has seen very, very little use. It has sat unused for over 10 years and is still in the original box it came in. It's yours for the...

Colour match for old Parkinsons vices

I also have an old Parkinson woodworking vice that a customer gave me about 20 years ago.....Not sure which model it is but its definitely got remnants of the deep Red colour on it and I'm sure it's never been repainted....

Axminster Jacobs Chuck - missing Key

I think it's a K32 chuck key that fits that chuck, but as suggested by others, check with Axminster 👍

    Joining worktop lengthways

I'm assuming you are talking about a worktop made of wood...? If so, as you suggested, just buy a 600mm deep worktop and butt joint it together back to back. If I was doing it, I would use Dominos or in years gone by, Biscuits for alignment purposes. Then sand it as a whole prior to finishing...

    Bevel Box Advice

I bought one years ago from Axminster Tools (cant remember the brand name on it) and have always found it accurate enough for my needs. I use mine for setting blade angles on my table saws and adjusting/checking the angle of my bandsaw table and planer thicknesser tables. Also used it recently...

    Bench top router table laminate

I've got quite a few sections of 38mm kitchen Laminate worktop offcuts that you could choose from,.....but I'm a bit far away from you!! I think the minimal lengths I have are 1000mm.

    Lithium battery shortage...

I thought I remember reading recently that a large deposit of Lithium had been discovered down in Cornwall not too long ago..? Or did I imagine it ...? Edit. Found it.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-54188071

Post a photo of the last thing you made

About 5 years ago, a good mate of mine had to have an Oak tree cut down in his garden for various reasons....He asked me if I wanted any of it and, of course, I said yes. After it had been felled, it lay on the ground for about a month before he & I managed to find the time to manhandle a couple...

    Removing chip extractor guard/grating?

True,...But that's just as likely to happen whether or not you remove the cross from the Impeller inlet.... Unless yours has a mesh across the inlet..??...which I would find unlikely as it would get blocked up all the time.

    Removing chip extractor guard/grating?

I have a Jet chip extractor for my Hammer planer thicknesser. It had a steel cross brace across the inlet of the fan.....After about the 2nd or 3rd blockage, I cut it out with a metal blade in my jigsaw and filed the cuts clean. Occasionally, i have sucked up the odd larger wood offcut but it...

    New kitchen

I very much doubt a tap, in close proximity to a Hob or Range, would pass inspection here in the UK.
