    Router bits sticking

I thought ALL hand held routers utilised this feature on their collet's...? I've never owned a router that didnt, put it that way! I have a Festool OF2000 router (made by Mafell for Festool I was led to believe) in my router table and it certainly uses the double secure collet on it....

    Cabinet hinge repair.

Depending on how badly the original screw holes have been damaged, you can get nylon/plastic inserts that can be inserted into the hinge screw holes. They are available in 2 sizes that I'm aware of....8mm or 10mm. You just drill out the original damaged screw holes to the appropriate size and...

Plunge saw - battery or corded?

One of my very early Festool purchases was a TS75 saw.....I had a specific project that required long, deep, accurate cuts at 45 degrees through material 55mm thick (The TS55 wont cut that deep at 45 degrees). With the saw purchase, I bought a 1400mm rail and a 3000mm rail.....The first time I...

Plunge saw - battery or corded?

I believe that was stated by some users from the USA and people that are used to 110v on UK building sites......The 110v saws are known for bogging down & stalling when put under a bit of extra strain......Its also potentially due to using a too small transformer and/or too thin and long power lead.

Plunge saw - battery or corded?

I have a 240v TS55 that I purchased first and then I bought a cordless TS55. Power wise, there is no difference between them. If you are mainly going to be working with sheet materials, the cordless will suffice......Obviously, battery hours of use may be an issue, depends on how many cuts your...

Festool 576481 18V TID Impact Drill Bare Unit in Systainer £149 at FFX

I only own 2 Makita tools now, both 240v, both I've had for 20 years and only get used rarely and none of their battery tools.....Similar experience with Makita as Phil stated above.....I'll never buy any of their battery tools 🤬🤬🤬

Festool 576481 18V TID Impact Drill Bare Unit in Systainer £149 at FFX

I've also bought quite a few tools & accessories from them over the years and only had an issue once with their delivery.......My Festool Kapex went missing for 5 days but eventually turned up......never had any explanation as to why it got mislaid. When I ordered my impact driver the other day...

    Cutting on worktop/ blade clearance

I have an actual Festool MFT table and a 1200 x 2400 MFT top that is cut upon extensively...... Here's a picture of my 1200 x 2400 top and my Festool table.....note the tracksaw cuts!!

    Cutting on worktop/ blade clearance

The MFT top is designed to be sacrificial....ie, set your blade depth so that it cuts 2 or 3mm into the top and you will get a clean splinter free cut on both the upper and lower edges of your material. If you really dont want to cut into your MFT, you can elevate the material by packing it up...

You Tube vids - Actually making something, like furniture

Reading this thread, Ishitani Furniture videos immediately sprang into my mind. Whenever I've watched any of his videos, I've always got the impression that his priority (quite rightly too!....) is the finished item he's making and the video is very much secondary. I especially enjoy his mix of...

    Record Power air filters

I've also got one.....Fitted up close to the workshop ceiling joists with the hooks provided.....No chains! Seems to work pretty well, albeit, a bit noisy! Not sure what the DB rating on it is but worth considering when you are looking at similar options.

    Hole saw

Drill halfway through, then flip the bit of MDF over and drill through from the other side.......If its only 18mm thick, this will reduce the clogging and be a lot easier to cut out the holes. Also, make sure you set the speed of your drill at an appropriate RPM....If your speed is too fast...

Kitchen base unit - odd size needed

If you only need one unit as a replacement, your local Howdens may accomodate you.....Its worth asking them. Failing that, a lot of your local builders probably have a Howdens account,...perhaps one of them may be able to order it for you on their account....?

Kitchen base unit - odd size needed

A 900mm wide kitchen unit is commonplace....If its 570mm deep with 500mm internal depth, it sounds like it may be a Howdens unit, as DBC has suggested.....
