How do I fit these worktops?

I'm sorry that you are confused Chailatte and I will try to explain why I wrote what I did.... The reason for the short 45 degree angle on the masons mitre jig, is to dissect the angle at the front of the worktop.....This allows for any shaped front profile to marry together......If you were...

How do I fit these worktops?

Of course, you could ChaiLatte, but as the worktop has a wood grain finish, it would not look anywhere near as good because the grain at the joint would be running at right angles to each other and you would still have a visible joint in the edging on the front face of the worktop...... It...

How do I fit these worktops?

The bolts are used to hold the joint together whilst the chosen adhesive/ silicone sets....In theory, the bolts could be removed as they perform little function once the adhesive has cured. I normally would fit 3 worktop bolts on a 600mm long joint ( this joint would be a bit longer though...

How do I fit these worktops?

@Doug71 I appreciate the vote of confidence Doug 👍 and I can only suggest how I would do it.....I'm sure others may have a differing opinion. As the worktops are a wood effect laminate finish, I would straight mitre them at an angle, so the grains from each section of worktop flows into one...

    MFT top, ply or MDF

If using 18mm thick material, the Festool style clamps require a minimum of 52mm clearance below the underside to ensure they dont hit anything.....

Do fix broken stuff or buy again?

Another example I had of a repair was to my large Axminster bandsaw about 18 months ago. The NVR switch failed and would not stay latched once I took my finger off the ON button.....I knew they could be a bit temperamental but ordered a replacement anyway......Out of stock for 3 weeks at the...

Do fix broken stuff or buy again?

Ooooppppsss!.....You can see how I made the assumption that it was a "She".....I'll have the Woke police after me! I'm assuming again, but does Nicky Clarke like to be referred to as a "He"......Its very difficult to know these days! Sorry Nicky!

Do fix broken stuff or buy again?

No,...Not a Dyson.....IIRC, it was a "Nicky Clarke" hairdryer. ( Whoever the hell she is...??!)🤔 Edit. I haven't personally had need of a hairdryer for more than 2 decades now....😥

What’s this called (Erbauer ER2100), help!

I had a similar problem with a Dewalt 625 E variable speed router a couple of years back.......I knew the bearings were starting to go on it, as I had used the router quite intensively for some time. I was right in the middle of a job, and the bearings were screaming but I had to plough on to...

Do fix broken stuff or buy again?

I always try to fix/ renovate wherever possible, both with regard to tools in my workshop and household items. A case in point a few months ago......My wife's hairdryer packed up ( not a cheap & cheerful model...!) and she said she was just going to throw it away and buy another one ( it was...

    Startrite Table saw buying advice

. According to the exploded diagram for a 175/275 saw, the Oilite bearings and corresponding pivot pins are the same part numbers for both ends of that bar......so I dont know why yours would be different...?!? Maybe, a previous owner has modified it for some unknown reason? Certainly worth...

    Startrite Table saw buying advice

That rectangular bar does look the correct shape and should have a kink in each end......Turning it over shouldn't make any difference as it will fit either way, as you have found out. Having said that, if there is wear in the Oilite bearings that are a push fit into each end of that bar, this...

    Startrite Table saw buying advice

As well you should,.....as that is actually the adjuster as it has a non concentric bolt through it & when rotated slightly will either tighten or loosen the trunnion mount. Its accessed by removing the yellow blade angle indicator plate ( item 43 in the exploded diagram). Edit. There is no...
