My usual usage is for rough measurements in the Garden...👍

Drill press and table saw advice

The TA series of Startrite table saws from the early 60's onwards had the model numbers( in increasing size) of TA125, TA145, TA165, TA255, TA175, TA175DS, TA275 , TA275DS, TA300 and a TA1250. Mechanically, they were very similar with lots of interchangeable parts. As the saws got bigger, the...

Gas hob recess too small for new hobs, what to do in limited space.

Aha..! That would help to explain, to a degree, your misunderstanding. The DIY Kitchens website is misleading....! As far as I'm aware, there are no built-in induction hobs available in the UK that are designed to fit into a standard thickness kitchen work surface without the need to remove or...

Gas hob recess too small for new hobs, what to do in limited space.

Thats strange...! ....I've just had a quick look at AEG's and Zanussi's website's and cant see any of their models listed as being less than 44mm thickness..... Hence, why I was hoping for a link to a specific model, as I often get asked by potential clients about the possibility of having one...

Interesting! ......Do you have a link to the models please Paul?

Lots of stuff came my way yesterday.

I occasionally use mine too......It was my Grandfather's and I'm 61, so heaven knows how old my tape is....? If I remember correctly, it's all in Feet & Inches, which is no surprise considering how old it must be.....

Gas hob recess too small for new hobs, what to do in limited space.

That is unusual for an Induction Hob!.....They are normally about 50/55mm in thickness and require a couple of mm clearance between the bottom of them and the separator panel above the drawer below ( if there is a drawer fitted, that is.....) Did she have thicker than normal worktops...

I'm not sure what the statement is ...

What's "stunning" is the fact that it's as rough as a Badger's A r s e,......There are visible burn marks, dreadful inaccurate routing.....Who in their right mind would buy that...?

    Quiet extractor ? doe's one exist .

The other evening after dinner, I loaded the Dishwasher and my wife was not aware I'd done so. 10 mins later, she stood up and announced " I'll go and load the Dishwasher "....." I've already done it" I said......Her immediate reply was,....."I'll go and unload and then reload the Dishwasher...

Mid range disc sander advice - (or maybe a disc/belt combi?)

A dedicated sander is designed to run at a far lower speed than a table saw blade....! Applying sideways pressure to a table saw arbor is going to put undue strain on the table saw bearings....! Sorry Eric, but I dont think your suggestion is good advice....👎

    Any Festool owners?

They are basically the same machine, except the Kapex 120 has a special feature on it that will allow you to cut material up to 120mm high vertically against the fence. Obviously, the Kapex 88 will only allow a cut in the material up to 88mm high.....As far as I know, this is the only...

Cutting the lid off the box

I use a bandsaw to do that task....You also lose less material due to the narrower kerf. This box was done on a bandsaw.....

Which models do you have so we can compare the Decibels with other options..?

Mid range disc sander advice - (or maybe a disc/belt combi?)

It is part of the cast iron casting......I had to put a plastic/rubber adapter on mine to ensure it worked with my Festool dust extractor. I suppose the machine itself is a bit "agricultural" by today's standards, but I would rate it over many of the models mentioned above as they all seem to...

Mid range disc sander advice - (or maybe a disc/belt combi?)

I have this version from Sealey and have had it for more than 14 years. It has done everything I've asked of it, albeit, it will start to stall if you apply too much pressure to the face of the sanding disc. I only tend to use it for relatively small components and when a small amount of...

    Featherboard for top-mounted T-Track

I have a Charnwood WO 20 router table and it had T Track mounted on the face of the fence as shown below..... Can you not do something similar to your fence as it would give you plenty of options for different featherboards then...? Or, as a The Tiddles suggested, just fit some sort of right...

Isopon body filler - what a 'con' !

I suppose it's the perception that by putting/selling a smaller quantity in a larger container, you are being misled.....That was certainly my impression when I opened up my tin of filler back in 2021....

    Whitworth Socket Set.

Hi Naughty Moose, My condolences for the loss of your Uncle and thank you for the kind offer of looking to see if he has left you something that may be suitable. I'll send you a PM with my contact details if you should find something. Best Regards, Tim.

    Whitworth Socket Set.

Thanks for that MF...👍 Yes, I'd looked at that set, but was a bit sceptical about them fitting lots of different types of nut & bolt sizes. Are they genuinely a multi- fit application....?
