    Thread identification help please.

I was just thinking exactly the same thing as J-G......Highly unlikely to be an imperial thread if the chest is only 20 or 30 years old! Unless the handles are off an older cabinet and repurposed on this chest of drawers?

    Remote control for extractors

Yes, ....A few years back, I bought one of those triple packs, similar to what Woodwoodpecka and bp122 have linked to......They all went pop in a very short space of time. I read the Info & specifications on the Toughleads site and It seems to tick the right boxes with regards to the heavier...

How do I know if a quote for work is reasonable?

I recently finished manufacturing and installing a new kitchen for my mother & father in law. The job was about 55miles from home and I needed to get a skip delivered to the house for the duration of the job. My usual skip hire company (with whom I have a regular trade account), stated they dont...

    Your most useful clamps

For smallish projects or just general clamping, my go to are these Bessey clamps. https://www.besseytools.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/50339/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAyeWrBhDDARIsAGP1mWTp5huVtHouC8pQcqODPC1rSnMQR1_2JLV9wuAyG-9Y3nYU8jnDo-IaAs-REALw_wcB They are strong, well made and can also...

    Boards for wardrobes and cabinets.

Some of the wood effect MFC & MFMDF panels that are available now, have a very good lifelike finish. Some of the "structured" finish boards have an almost 3D look about them. Obviously, a real timber finish is preferable for a lot of projects, but modern MFC and MFMDF are ideal for kitchen &...

Workshop burgled, now my tools are on eBay

About 40 years ago, I had a motorbike that was my only form of transport. It wasnt anything special, but was bought and paid for with my hard earned money. I came home one Friday night from the pub to see that my bike was no longer where I'd left it. I decided to walk up the road and see if I...

Decormax also sell Kronospan and Unilin sheets, who are a couple of other manufacturers of MFC and MRMDF sheet material. The MRMDF sheets tend to machine better and edge finish a bit easier than MFC, but the MRMDF sheets are not as widely available in as many colours & finishes as the MFC...

    Boards for wardrobes and cabinets.

Try here....I use them regularly! https://www.decormax.co.uk/ They have 2 or 3 depot's and I'm sure they will be able to give you some prices. 18mm & 8mm MFC Egger boards vary in price depending on the colour, finish and texture of the board. They are normally supplied in uncut sheets of...

Record 52 1/2 Vice - Part spec required

I think its 3/16 Whitworth from memory....? There are quite a few suppliers in the UK that sell spares for Record vices, just have a search via Google and I'm sure you'll find out for certain what the size is...👍 I have a 52 1/2 that dates from the early 1930's and I'm sure it has a 3/16 BSW screw.

    TV cookery....

About 10 years ago, myself, my wife and 4 of our friends were staying in a private cottage down in Cornwall. We booked a meal at a "Nathan Outlaw" restaurant in Fowey for my mates wifes birthday celebrations. My mate ( an accomplished chef in his own right) had chosen the venue based upon a...

    Van insurance

I own and insure 2 Van's, a 2.5L 2006 Renault Traffic SWB and a 2.5L 2004 VW Transporter LWB. Both are fully comprehensive policies. The premiums of both Van's when added together, dont even come to £1000.....Admittedly, I'm a few years younger than you (62) Murphy, but £2000 does seem...
