Do I need a track saw / table saw?

Sorry!....I assumed the reason you wanted to see the blade actually cutting the material, was to confirm that you were getting a clean cut..? Otherwise, why would you feel the need to watch the blade doing its thing...? 🤔

Do I need a track saw / table saw?

If the tracksaw & splinter guard on the rail are set up correctly, you should be getting clean cuts on both the upper & lower edges....?!? Here are a couple of cuts I've done this morning on some 18mm MFC using a tracksaw and a rough/ oversize cut on my table saw ( This is the offcut, by the...

Why are some router tables made up of cast iron but not others?

You can get 12mm worktop/ kitchen splashbacks in SGL nowadays......See if a local kitchen company or fitter has an offcut they would be willing to part with. If it's only for a router table top, you wont need a huge piece...700mm x 500mm is an average size top for a router table......🤔 Bear in...

Updgrading motor on Kity 619 saw - worth it?

I agree with @Fergie 307 ......I have a Kity 618 saw in my home workshop ( Im assuming it's the same motor as the 619 saw..?) and it's a 1986 vintage......I've always found the motor perfectly capable of cutting any material I've ever pushed through it..... Last year it happily cut through 3"...

    Festool domino: benefits + price

I bought mine second hand 10 years ago from a member on here for £400. It was 2 years old at the time & in pretty much new condition and had done minimum work....Never had anything go wrong with it in all those years. I use it on practically every job I do and would be lost without it. They...

    Startrite Spares

Hi CrustyCrab, Your saw is a bit of a Bitsa by the look of it ( bits of this & bits of that).......It states on the machine ID plate that it's a 145 model, but the 145 has a different fence system on it and the 145 only has a single rectangular bar on the front of the saw, not the twin round...

Looking to buy a replacement router for a UKJ lift without a NVR switch?

Looking to buy a replacement router for a UKJ lift without a NVR switch?

I bought a cast iron topped Charnwood router table a few years back and it came with a NVR switch and a 1/2" collet extension as part of the package.......I've never been tempted to use the extension as the thought of that thing coming loose at 20,000 rpm does not appeal to me in any way...

Looking to buy a replacement router for a UKJ lift without a NVR switch?

The armature shaft with the collet & nut fitted, only protrudes about 25mm from the body of the router on the DW 625,.....are you sure that it's the armature shaft that's bent and not just the collet/ nut that's causing the issue of the run-out..?

    Cleaning abrasives

Artificial cork from wine bottles works well....but you may need quite a few of them depending on how many abrasives you need to clean! 😁 It shouldn't be a problem for you finding them in Italy though....👍

    Domino-ooh-ooo

I use quite a lot of 5 x 30 Dominos and keep about 30 slightly sanded ones stored in a zip lock bag for dry assembly. I also store all my Dominos in a warm, dry area as they can expand slightly over a period of time otherwise. If you find they are really tight to fit, just put them in a dish...

    Think Kerf Riving Knife

The current blade may well have a kerf of 3.2mm, but the current riving knife will be slightly thinner than that.......probably around about 2.9mm/ 3.0mm thick...?

    Think Kerf Riving Knife

It's certainly possible to make one yourself.👍 The material you use should be thicker than the plate thickness of your thinner blades, but thinner than the kerf of the new thinner blade. I've found the easiest material to make a riving knife from that I've got to hand, is an old saw blade. You...
