    Supersizing a female figurine

@Stigmorgan . That's beautiful. I've searched ladies day hats and there are some stunning designs there. I would suggest that's an idea to consider. With regards to the the method/type of paint/stain. I would experiment until you have found a result that you are really pleased with. You will...

    Supersizing a female figurine

@Stigmorgan A purple hat turned from figured oak. The medullary rays should shine through beautifully. Just a thought Fred

    Alcove cabinets

@hertspretendchippy That's excellent work. Just a thought. I've used Polycell 'Deep fill Pollyfilla' to fill gaps between a wall and the 'packing piece ' (or whatever it is called) of a cabinet. You would end up with a seamless join between wall and cabinet when painted. Cheers Fred

Post a photo of the last thing you made

It reminds of a time donkeys years ago when I made exactly the same mistake on the middle drawer of a partners desk. The time it took to rectify the problem was ridiculous. Fortunately it was the only time I made that mistake

    Gplan (oak) Table refurb question

I suspect that the top surface you are working on is a veneer. (the edge being solid wood) When it was originally glued down it was possibly in the region of 0.6 mms thick. For that reason I would recommend that you use your cork sanding block with the grades of grit you have mentioned...

Hand planing hardwood - bad idea?

Like you, I also greatly improved my knowledge, and skills by attending a three week course with David Charlesworth over 20 years ago. Learning his methods of getting my plane and chisels in top top condition. Learning to prepare timber to a very high standard. Making and fitting a small drawer...

    An amazing project

I came across Oliver Gomis a few days ago and posted details on one of the threads on this forum. I think this table is surerb. If it was mine I would have a piece of glass on the top to finish it off.
