I have had both of these mitre guides for the last 2 years for use on my table saw and router table. On the router table the guide sguide slides in a standard 19mm T track. The saw has a sliding table and I have clamped the guide bar into one of the 2 slots. UJK technology. Current price £100...

    How strong is this joint?

So at what stage does a joint change. If you look at the z design with plywood ends then if instead it was made out of solid with a loose tongue bridle joint at the top and bottom it would be just as strong. I think that the answer depends on how wide the diagonal is, what type of wood is used...

Oak and burr oak jewellery box

Perhaps I have an engineer too long but I am not in favour of clocking of screws. In order to align the heads you either have to overtighten, potentially shearing the screw or partly stripping the thread in the wood. Slackening the screw to align the head means the screw isnt working...

Oak and burr oak jewellery box

Hi Chris. The stay was made by cutting a hinge to produce 2 small brass plates to inset into the lid and base of the box. I then drilled a hole almost the full depth of teh side and epoxied in a brass tube. 2 small hole 1.5mm dia were drilled into the recessed brass plates. The gear cable was...

    Riveter

The type of riveter depends abit on the type and size of rivets youre using. A small plier type is fine for small aluminium rivets but anything over 4.8mm or stainless rivets you really need a scissor / lazy tong type . We use both for cladding but I find the scissors much easier and also easier...

    Which digital vernier caliper

Unfortunately that is not my experience, hence the post. The pair I bought have over 0.5mm zero error due to the poor construction and allowing the jaws to misalign. I will see what is available at Harrogate but the M&W ones look like a good option Thanks everyone Ian

    Which digital vernier caliper

I have been using a standard vernier caliper fro years but somehow the markings seem to be getting smaller (perhaps eyesight is getting worse :D ) I have decided to buy a digital version. Bought 1 which was complete garbage massively out everytime you checked the zero. What makes /models of 6...

    Wooden spokeshave WIP

Hi Pete, I managed to miss your thread earlier this year. You have got me thinking about making my own blades. I have some old planer blades which are well worn down and dont fit my planer which I might try and cut down. I light the smaller size of your shave but to me the handles are back to...
