Hi Tom, Just got back on the forum and I am pleased to se that John has made you that offer of trueing up the nuts. If you needed a spacer just let me know the spindle diameter and I would have turned you a flat spacer washer and put it in the post. However I will keep an eye on this thread...

    safety goggles?

Hi Harlequin, I bought a pair and find them very effective but as you are in Leeds you could alway give ARCO a call as I know they will order- in this type of safety spec for you and i believe they can get a better quality pair from Illes Optical. Hope that helps, Regards, Ian

    two box's- critique

Hi George, I really like the Elm box the grain is something else and as you comment unrepeatable. I do like the straight form. The oak comes in only just second and if I could criticize any part the round top to the sharp edge of the base interface seems a bit abrupt. I don't think I have...

    NUTS! Homemade Faceplate Query

Hi Tom, How do you plan to use the nuts to produce a face plate? Has the shaft on the lathe got a plain unthreaded portion, if so this is called the register and you machine the threaded portion out to that dimension to register the face plate or chuck back plate so as to provide...

    Lathe too fast

Hi Alex, It might be a good idea to check the speed of the motor on each lathe, you will find it on the plate attached to the side of the motor and I would say they should be 1475 RPM or thereabouts. You would hardly notice the difference between 450 and 500 RPM but if the CCL had a 2800 RPM...

For a few apples more and a box

Good morning Matt and George, Thanks for your comments both and to clarify the finish George I take the pictures in the conservatory so that I make use of natural light, however I have taken the internal shot from above and so it looks a gloss finish whereas the side shot is not benefitting...

Hi All, As requested here are several photographs of the production process for producing the pendants and I would like to thank Alan who took all the pics while I was showing him how to make them. I do not claim any originality for this method and was inspired by a demonstration by Gerry...
