    Veneer press?

I've been trying to cut some maple to actually 1.8mm thick. I've tried lots of ways, bandsaw, cnc machine and failed each time. The bandsaw was not accurate enough... I then cut it roughly to 3mm thick and glued it down onto my cnc and with the 25mm surfacing cutter tried to surface it to...

Is this the right tool for the job?

Thanks for the replies.. The chamfer tool is for 3mm to 20mm so will try it. Not sure How many pieces as its an on going project so maybe hundreds. I could make a jig to hold the pieces and bridge the gap between vice and saw blade. I do have a bench belt sander to clean up the ends also

Is this the right tool for the job?

I did look into that, haven't used one since school! I looked at the mini lathes not sure what they are like compared to a proper one? But unsure how long it would take to cut pieces of 5mm rods at 15mm?

Is this the right tool for the job?

I want to cut some 5mm silver steel rod into 15mm pieces and put a small chamfer on one end. I was thinking of buying one of these bandsaws below I used to have a Evolution cold cut saw but all pieces of metal flying everywhere scared the hell out of me. The bandsaws don't look as brutal. I...

    Making some 2mm laminate?

Thanks for replies..if I managed to get a tight fit without spliting the wood, could it split in the future? Just thinking in damp weather could it push it over the edge and split in the future? I did look at carbon fibre sheets in either .5 mm or 1mm stuck to the back and then cut them out...

    Making some 2mm laminate?

I'm trying to build some wooden bobbins for a guitar pickup. I tried some 2mm thick hardwood and cut the shape out but when I tried to put in the 5mm metal slugs it split the wood. They need to be a tight fit. So I thought of using the same hardwood and use 2 x 1mm pieces and glue them...

How to get a piece of timber 2.5mm and spot on?

Hi thanks for the replies. I will give them all a go, the blade on the bandsaw is new, I specifically asked for a blade for veneers when I ordered a new blade. My table saw won't cut to 70mm so I'll try planing 2 sides then cut some strips on the bandsaw, allowing some sanding room. I let you...

    Charnwood drum sander

At present I'm only sanding pieces 500mm x 70mm x 10mm so it's ideal for that. It's a pleasure to use. It sounds loud in the short video I posted but it's barely audible when it's on

    Charnwood drum sander

    Charnwood drum sander

Yes they could, the only reason they are that long is if they were short they would hit the stand when undoing them..they have Bristol handles fitted ( if thats the correct term?) But it take a few mins undoing them and then pulling the handle out to get it to the starting position again. So...

    Charnwood drum sander

Imaging removing the side support piece if you want to do a 20 inch double pass piece and then having to replace all the washers and split washers again. I will be mainly using it on pieces no more than 75mm so won't have to...it seems to work really well and a pleasure to use
