Jet JWBS-16 Bandsaw - electrical issues

I'm 95% sure we sold these with a 16amp blue plug on.. I know at shows we could occasionally get away with swopping for 13amp 3pin as organisers 16amp supply cost a fortune, but it was hit and miss if we blew other stands electric off. Did you buy it 2nd hand? Or if new did it come with a 3pin...

What is going on with wood prices right now

1% is what it is on that order maybe and fair play in just a day that's no issues, but factories we deal with now say... Frames for saws – 43% Sheet metal – 100% - US and EU can hardly get it from China. Export from Tw increased by 89% in Q1. Woodworking machines are not the priority Copper –...

What is going on with wood prices right now

Interesting thanks for the link, and the comment below from that report applies to many other products / retailers now I'm sure. "• Those less able to hold stocks or less willing to plan their needs in advance were unable to spot-purchase quantities: this was a particular problem for builders’...

Where have all the bandsaws gone?

Hi Flynnnwood, yes, that sounds about right - mail from Taiwan contact below - this is what's happening over there regarding factory raw material increases, plus they now have their potential first Covid wave starting with just 3% vaccinated (population 23mill) - this will affect supply and...

Where have all the bandsaws gone?

Many things are only going to go up in price and lower in availability until Q3 2022 at earliest I think. Import / cost pricing is still crazy as a friendly heads up to all in case you hadn't already read about it - If you can get something and it's an Ok price, then fair play. Just letting you...

Where have all the bandsaws gone?

Agreed - not an issue for us luckily as ours go out horizontal, but I have several customers who use a tilt indicator device when sending upright - generic link below, not an endorsement - if nothing else, they say as soon as the courier sees it they tend to take a bit more care than normal...

Bandsaw - Laguna or Record Power

@Westy619 Just a heads up - you may want to contact them as I sent a mail out to all retailers yesterday explaining we cannot guarantee forward pricing September onwards... Pricing will be confirmed when containers leave TW - 6-8 weeks prior to landing in UK.

Where have all the bandsaws gone?

Hi James, We are in the same metaphorical boat as everyone else I'm afraid. We do still have stock coming in (ordered a long time back), but increased global demand and slower factory supply means it is virtually all pre-sold to retailers before it even lands. Some retailers have ordered extra...

    SIP 01332 Table saw

Container deliveries are still all over the place, but being told it's 'going into quarantine'?? That's a new one - did it need 2 X PCR Covid tests too? 🤣

    Moving 250kg lathe.

If it's just one end to move by 6 inches, then position headstock/banjo/tailstock to the other end and just push it, or use levers as suggested - shouldn't be too hard assuming you don't need to lift it over anything? But as DickM said, make sure the other end is not fixed down.

    KGT500 dust extraction

Hi John, it was never the best for extraction as it was designed primarily as a 'site saw' - but I always loved the over-engineering in that saw - lovely cantilever action on the chop. Extraction on the chop was by way of a shroud under the table. part #105 Extraction on the rip was just by...

    Tack cloths/rags?

We always called them tack cloths - ha but that's 30 years back when I worked painting narrow boats in Brum. 240g flattening 1st gloss coat on a DA sander / air blast dust off / wipe all over with white spirit, then 'tack cloth' all over before final gloss coat. Amazing how much the cloths...

    Holes in bandsaw inserts

Hi Wend, You are right that a lot of inserts have holes in - Ha, I've never even thought about this before and don't profess to know the answer why they have them, but for what it's worth ours are solid pieces and I've never heard of any issues. Surely even with holes in they are covered by the...

    Drum sander

Hi Kevin, we carry good stocks of pre-cut belts - approx £25 inc vat for a pack of 4 with different grit options. 36/80/120/150/180 G Or you can just buy standard 3" wide cloth back longer rolls from elsewhere & cut your own. Using a cleaner stick massively extends the belt life too as it will...

Is this the cut you’d expect from a 4 TPI bandsaw blade?

Hi Farlsborough, It's a JWBS14 - I have the CE manual and exploded parts view in PDF and Word format. If you want to private message me your e-mail address I will send them over. There would have been a small stand with it originally too - maybe old owner got rid of? I'm sure that is the CE...

Charnwood W880 Lathe - are theya good 'step up from beginner' lathe

Hi Droogs, Charnwood are the Laguna sole importers - we all work together in the same premises / warehousing - selling both brands through slightly different retail distribution networks that also have many crossovers. I joined Charnwood to bring Laguna into the UK, as their logistics and...

    Sawdust briquets

Just as an anecdote, one of my accounts up in Cumbria produce large amounts of natural wood sawdust/ shavings through their sawmill/joinery shop - that costs a lot to dispose of commercially. They told me they struck a deal with another local factory who produce smoked fish, who then collected...
