Charnwood w740 vs Record power 450?

Hi dvddvd, just for info, every bandsaw sold in Europe is subject to Annex iv regs & has to stop within 10 seconds to comply with CE and UKCA. Pretty sure all larger saws have braked motors unless they can prove friction does the job.

    Mouldings by hand.

Hi Adam, This reminded me of this pretty amazing guy on YT who made his own - I was well impressed

Why is my Record power bandsaw table big?

Hi @Ttrees - Meppen was the town where the original Elektra Beckum German factory was & where they were built before they outsourced most to China. Their design was then copied everywhere a few years later & is still the blueprint for standard hobby bandsaws. There was a free vending machine...

Why is my Record power bandsaw table big?

@Ttrees - an original Meppen BAS315 I reckon? - love it & I sold loads - such a good machine at the time

    Crazy IT people

Not at all qualified to comment on software, but just on machines & in my experience over the years (I'm not talking Laguna now) I've come across many 'solutions' and design upgrades to problems that didn't even sodding exist. Frustrating is the word at times when something changes for the...

    Jet JTS-250 "timing" belt

    CNC Software

Hi Brian, that was another error I made - My Z0 in V Carve programming is now always top of material being cut - but I originally used the touch off tool to Z0 in UCCNC to machine bed & then quickly realised why my bit plunged 19mm further than it should... My Z0 in this case was top of...

    CNC Software

I've realised no matter how clever the software - It still boils down to the person (me) programming it correctly - ha like a complete doughnut I went straight through the end of a clamp with my bit yesterday - scared the life out of me. In fairness the aluminium clamp cut quite well...

    Jet JTS-250 "timing" belt

I now get why I got the PM off you Tony, no probs at all though - & that was completely my mistake as I then gave you a link for a Laguna Fusion drive belt (hope you have the return sorted?) - Ha I went completely word blind when I read it and my head just substituted your wording 'Jet' for...

Spindle Moulder courses in the UK?

Hi Dave - I'd suggest it's well worth speaking to Bruce at Tewkesbury Saw - not a million miles from your part of the world. He's runs a lot of SM training courses for industry and education and he is a good guy & really knows his stuff. Hope that helps, Cheers, Nick Laguna UK

    CNC Software

I'm currently getting my head around the Vectric software, and along with the online tutorials it seems quite intuitive - and so far, fairly easy to grasp. I've got a nice new sample machine from Taiwan to mess with too ;) Cheers, Nick

Recomendations to Shows / large sellers with show rooms

Hi @Welsh Brian - knowing your part of the world, I'd suggest if you can take an hour or so down the A49 and call into Pen Tools in Hereford - they have probably the closest well stocked and decent sized sized showroom with most of the items on your list on display with different brand options...

Spindle Moulder - Elektra Beckum TF904

Hi @MikeK & @siggy_7 - just to add to the thread for anyone else who reads - TF904 were pretty much bullet proof when I sold them late 90's - hardly any issues. Same as it's smaller TF100 counterpart - a cracking little machine too. Cheers, Nick (ex - Elektra Beckum a long time ago)

    Newark Show

Hi @Roland, thanks and no worries, and that was considerate of you if I was already with someone, it was a busy show for me which was good. Hi @Blister too - nice to see you again after all these years, and thanks for stopping by. I sort of get where you are coming from with your comments, and...

JET - JWS 34LX Spindle Moulder

Hi Milesb - try Tool France - they are now the Jet distributor for Europe. Cheers, Nick

    Newark Show

I'll be there on the Laguna stand, and of course to all members on here, please feel free to drop by and say 'hi' if you want - I read this forum more than I post on it, but it's always nice to put faces to usernames. Likely to be a blinkin' cold snowy set up day tomorrow I think for all of us...

I laughed at your earlier comment John - ha that was funny, but in the same vein as you, that was in no way meant to be disrepectful to your original question Sapper. I'm in my very early 50's now, and I also know things don't work half as well as they did in my 20's. I'll probably google back...

Yandles - where have they gone?

I'm down there meeting the good people at Yandles next Wednesday - I'm pretty sure it's a computer / internetwebs glitch or something? If I turn up and there's just a desolate nuclear bomb crater in Martock / or they have all fled from a regional zombie attack or something I'll let you all know...

Which wheeled base for new Bandsaw - Laguna 14BX

Hi @BucksDad Unfortunately nothing new from us early next year - we will just keep concentrating on what we have. I'm all for new machines too and we have have a few planned, but the way it's looking realistically is maybe later next year at earliest. There's still a lot of things to sort with...
