    band saw upgrade

I saw an old Elu EBS3501 for sale at Grovewood Machines in Basingstoke last week if that helps you gjhimages? It looked in decent condition & I got proper nostalgic ;) No idea what money they wanted for it, but as Steve said, they were great machines - could be worth a call? Cheers , Nick

    Aldi nail gun

I probably won't use it that often but at that price & if it does the job then I'll have that good feeling you get when you've bought something that actually makes sense & makes life easier. In fact, I'll probably go overboard & nail everything to anything else just because I can - probably be...

    Aldi nail gun

Thx for the heads up - I've just ordered one - it's one of a few tools that when a certain job comes up I keep cursing and telling myself to just get one. At this price & 3 year warranty I'm going to give it a try. Cheers.

    Saw stop

Hi Noel, agreed, it seemed a better system - Bosch showed it at Koln in 2016 - I was down at Bosch HQ early last year and asked about it - let's just say they didn't really want to discuss that subject ;)

Draper 200mm Cast Iron Table saw £200 ?!?!

As said by others, Barnes have been around for a long time & they are well respected in our industry. How they have managed to do this with Draper at that price I have no idea - 40ft container delivery is my guess. Look forward to seeing the reviews.

    I'm off

Hi Peter - you probably already know - SawStop visited the UK 2 weeks ago and attended various meetings. Cheers, Nick

    What actually happened to Elu?

;) - nice one - I still have my 1997 catalogue I worked for B&D through the transition & heard similar comments from my dealers as echoed in comments above - reality is though the business model worked via massive marketing & innovation at the time - I remember the first 14.4v cordless launch at...

    Developments with Harvey Machinery, China

If you look at the W18 exhibition home page they seem to have pre-announced some machines. Gyro seems same as Scott & S sell. http://www.wexhibition.co.uk/exhibitors ... centre-ltd Cheers, Nick

    Funky coloured machines

Martin Machinery in Germany jazzed up a T75 Table Saw - Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I quite like it. https://martin.info/en/special-solution ... streetart/

Record Power Updated CX3000 – reliable specs?

Hi Bob, "Traditional method" is taken at the inlet. "Realistic" is taken at a pre-determined point down a hose attached to the machine. Scroll down to "what is CFM and how is it calculated" on the link below - hopefully it is explained in more detail there. https://www.lagunatools.uk/cycology...

    Dust Extraction Ducting Supplier?

Hi LancsRick It could be worth your time looking at Aries for galvanised ducting - good stocks & sharp pricing. www.ariesductfix.com/ Hope this helps Cheers, Nick

    New surface planer from Axminster

CE regs likely wouldn't allow that as the guard would have to be taken off - stopped chamfers are OK though. Haven't seen this in the flesh, but I'll bet it's like the old Jet surfacers where the cuter block either doesn't sit flush or protrude from the outfeed table side edge. So if you try...

    Dust Extraction

You could try Aries Duct Fix - they operate nationwide & can also do full installation / LEV testing, or simply provide a schematic remotely so that you can install all ducting yourself. www.ariesductfix.com Just out of interest, have you been visited by HSE?, as they are currently having a...

Mystery over a Charnwood pillar drill

Hi Sunnybob - Charnwood are the sole Laguna agents for UK/Eire & we've already launched cyclones - more to come. Laguna will run as a separate brand to Charnwood, it has no effect on Charnwood's stock holding or proposed product line up at all - there's enough space for both brands in the...

    Depth marks for drill bits

Interesting, never thought of that - will try it & see - thanks I always just used to mark in big permanent marker around the bit & do it by sight. Cheers

Jet jts 600 or Charnwood w660

Hi Steve - there will be a sliding sub fence on it from the details I've seen so far, so yes, you can pull that back to correct position for ripping. Fingers crossed I'm hoping to be showing it at Harrogate later this year so if you're visiting feel free to check it out. Cheers, Nick

Jet jts 600 or Charnwood w660

Hi Steve, that's our cousins across the pond for you - we plan to make European vids when we launch it & we won't be showing dodgy practices like that - Cheers. Hi Myfordman - that's the longer term plan as we know there is a high demand for a dado compatible saw like this - we are looking...

Jet jts 600 or Charnwood w660

Not that I'm biased at all... I launched Jet with Axminster & I'm now working with Charnwood launching Laguna... I'd say wait 6 months & get a Laguna Fusion 3 - pricing TBC, but similar to Jet anticipated. Hi Mods - am I on dodgy ground mentioning this? If so, please delete & tell me off -...
